I have been with Cell C for 2yrs and it wasnt a bad experience in any way, cept for the usual issues with signal here and there. I recently got a tablet with data on MTN and the signal at my place was rubbish.

I contacted MTN about this and they said they would be able to assist. A week later they rock up at my place and install an antenna on the roof (looks the old mnet aerials). Signal goes from edge to 5bars hsdpa. Of course im over the moon and all that but i still need to be tethered to the antenna and cant use the signal wireleslly.

So another call to them about this, and they say they would be able to assist. So tomorrow they are coming to install a cel-fi unit, which basically turns my house into a mini base station, using the antenna :D.

Needless to say, when my and my wife's Cell C contracts end we are switching to MTN.

I used to be with Cell C, but after extremely poor customer service, I switched to MTN. They are not winning any awards but at least the staff do what is required of them and the follow through when a promise is made.

Glad to hear the same.

I am with MTN, have been for close on 2 years.

My signal is solid, customer care can usually help (hint remember the name of the person assisting you if they are a retard, call again and hope to get someone different)

my only issue is the costs, on average a call costs me around 1.5 times what a call on vodacom will cost, my airtime on my topup package cannot be used to buy data, and data bundles are insanely expensive.

add to that, the store does not have the device you want. it does not matter what you want, or where you go, you will wait at least a week to get it.

and last rant they are not going to get the latest device as soon as vodacom will, they are a month slow, and they dont push out updates for your android. ever. EVER.

I am 50/50 with mtn, its such a mission to port though....

I am with you there, I am running Jellybean 4.1.2 on my S2 right now.

but Vodacom at least release an ICS OTA push for the S2 MTN has still not done that more than a year later, and ask them about that on twitter. anything other than where can I find a store or how does BIS work does not get answered on twitter at all.

glad it worked out for you ... my experience was no where near as good with mtn.

I made numerous calls and eventually they sent some techie out, who said they would install the cel-fi at my place but still needed to do some assessments, and that was over a year ago.
Have moved over to cellc a few months ago, and reception is slightly better.
