Why get such a big inverter.
I run my 55" Smart TV, the SD-PVR, my Desktop PC and about 6 lights on a 300 watt Ellies modified sine wave inverter with one 12v 100 AH battery.
This setup has been used for almost 2 years without a hitch.
Ok the PC does not run at the same time as the TV, it's one or the other.
If you want both then maybe a 600 watt max.

It's probably overkill, but I don't want to be limited. Might even be able to run my heat pump off it if I need to.

Hell you guys are rich :)
I'm retired and live happily ever after with my 300 watt inverter and a 5.5kw generator.
Inverter been running for 2 years and genny for 7 years.
Have saved some bucks and will be buying a new 1200 watt Ellies inverter and 2 x 102 a/h batteries soon ;)
Captain Beer, your PC brings back some real good memories :)

I wanted to get a 5.5 generator but the estate I live in won't allow them :(
Had a similar PC in primary school, Duke Nukem 3D at 5FPS :)

Comes to about the same price with the 4 batteries, but I see it does 4000w vs the CyperPower's 2450w.

I think the big issues is how proven it is.
The Axpert is widely used by members on the forum with good experiences.

Not so sure about Cyberpower.

If you want to save a bit: http://www.geewiz.co.za/inverters/5...us-3000va-2400w-pure-sine-wave-inverter.html?

Only uses two batteries so should be quite a bit less. But yeah, not sure you want to be running your heatpump on that...

Thanks man, I've just seen the Axpert thread now, will read through it this evening. Looks neater than the CyberPower too.

Well it is fairly well proven imo. The really good brands like Mean Well (R16k just for inverter), Cotek (R16k just for inverter), Voltex (R35k+ just for inverter), Outback (R30k+ just for inverter) are really expensive.

Mean well is also pretty good (TN-3000) also.

Personally I'm running Cotek but I had to do my own switch over.

From my research Axpert seems to be decent given the price point.

Hence the recommendation.
