I found this book from 1889 on the subject of sun spots and rainfall patterns.
Found it interesting, especially how weather were in "those days".

1652 for example, is described as:

The author do state that sunspots is not the only factor to determine rainfall, but there seems to a relationship between sunspot activity and rainy seasons.

Doesn't the sun's energy output vary with sunspot activity?

It does, they go into a lot of details about where sunspots come from, and which spectrum of light is involved etc.
Sunspots also have an 11 year cycle which they also discuss.

I am predicting good rainfall seasons close to or after the solar minimun. Almost there.

Check the rainfall and river flow records. A lot of our good seasons fall during or just after the solar minima.
