Ramaphosa flight cost R2.6 million because air force VIP fleet can't fly

President Cyril Ramaphosa and 11 other passengers travelled to the Southern African Development Community summit in Kinshasa on an SAA A340 plane designed to carry 320 passengers.

The Sunday Times reports that the president was forced to use the SAA jet — costing about R2.6 million for the trip — as none of the air force VIP fleet is serviceable.

Lol! Did it really have to be the A340 that they used? Aren’t they incredibly inefficient?
Don’t SAA have some A319/320 in service that could have been used?
Goodness. :ROFL::X3:

Of course... for the same guy who now says Zondo's reports are not binding.... wonder how many billions the trip really cost the taxpayer. Not interested in the R1.8m more or the "official" figure.

It's okay, in 10 years from now, the SA delegates will make the journey on foot,draped in animal fur. Goats and chickens will be part of the delegation.
And well deserved. I'm just sorry about the goats and chickens who will be forced to fall to the ANC delegates intelligence levels. No animal deserves that :mad:.

Some cadre in the SAAF accounts dept simply overlooked payments to Jeppeson data, not once, not twice but 5 times, this despite visits, email reminder and phone calls

100% incompetence.
