With you on this. I have reprimanded many friends and family doing this when driving. One guy a while back realised I would get upset if he used it instead drove up until the car and then said "ja ek het so gedink". so maybe rietrot has a point of people choosing to use it behind our backs

You might be right about that. Doing it that way makes it clear that they know they're wrong and they just don't care.

It is this. and it is offensive. maybe the way it is said and used in Cape Town, the connotation shifts
Sometimes we dont know when we are being offensive. I recently learned of the word macau or something like that which is a derogatory xhosa word for coloured people. I obviously dont find it offensive as I never heard it before.

I've been called "you darkies" by whiteys many times, never found it offensive. I just call them whiteys. I never knew it's offensive.

Should I have taken offense? That just silly. I'm darker than them, they are lighter than me.

Call me fatty to my face and I might kick you in the nuts though.

Its an interesting point, you refer to basically banter...

I refer to a very demeaning way of use, usually coupled with a swear word and often used by bitter coloureds

All gets used ...

That's much more fun. But we're getting off topic with that.

I have also never heard that word. I think I should get out more.

Yeah, I think up country maybe it's used in a diferrent context. Here I can't really imagine taking offense to being called that.

Group name for what?
I actually find it hard to believe you are a foreigner and not racist. The better educated foreigners that I've met were all extremely racist, especially against lower class SA black people.

I'll just stab you with a steak knife and call it self defense.

Anyway mushie, I would actually really like to meet you, as I said, I doubt you're real.

Most whites (not all as per you in one post but all as per you in other post as you said the other one in jest) around you use k word, better educated foreigners you meet are racist.

Dude, where in the name of flying sphagetti monster do you really live, work and mingle? Just tell me - it is killing me.
