A Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament has taken on Federal Council chairperson Helen Zille over what he called her denial that race matters when dealing with redress.
Hlanganani Gumbi said it was concerning that Zille took what he viewed as an aggressive policy posture on the issue.
Last week, Zille said she believed race mustn't play a role in DA policy.
“Race matters, Helen!” - This was how Gumbi started his opinion piece taking on the DA leader.
He said he believed race was a proxy for disadvantage and was warning the party not to fall into the trap of romanticising the advances that a very small size of the black middle class had made to overcome poverty and empower their families.

If race is the proxy for 99% of disadvantage then you don't need a proxy to address it.

Should have posted it in the DA crisis thread. We have just too many DA threads now.

No Hlanganani. Race shouldn't matter. Education, disadvantage, etc etc they matter.

If you use race as a proxy for them you have failed in addressing the actual root causes.

“Even if we take a simple example such as black tax and what it does to young black professionals and families as an expense, keeps some kind of toxic perpetual relationship and ultimately, we need to be building a political party that is founded in economic, social and fundamental justice.”

This tard thinks that only black professionals help their families, and then decries it to be some sort of a bad thing?

As a rule, society tends to get better by the investments parents make in their children. I bet you this guy had some relative who decided to live a bit harder such that he could have a better life than her. When you pathologies this with the state and taxes, it destroys the inventive for this and thus society stays poor.

The party of economic, social and fundamental justice is responsible for this, and this idiot can simply put his yellow shirt back on and join the ANC.

What happened to people that said 'Oh - I didn't get anything from my parents and I am self-made man' - could they have lied? Shock & horror.

He should listen to Gwen Ngwenya.

“Getting people into jobs, making sure they have the skills to earn a higher income when they are in the jobs - and therefore be able to put more of their income towards investment - that is the way to accumulate the kind of wealth that turns into intergenerational prosperity and BEE has not done that and will not do that,” explained Ngwenya.

Boom.

Trade schools; adult vocational programs; complete re-work of the education system. Curb the runaway power the unions possess, break them if you have to. Make the country more business-friendly.

That's how you sort the mess. Sadly the ANC never bothered doing the groundwork, so its just made it that much harder to bring everyone up to the same level. They've essentially wasted an entire generation and are already screwing the next generation over.
