ANC blocks Starlink in South Africa

The Democratic Alliance says it is clear South Africans will never receive free Internet or data unless an ANC cadre or tenderpreneur provides it.

This is according to Democratic Alliance (DA) MP Dianne Kohler Barnard, who was responding to a written response to Parliamentary questions from the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mondli Gungubele.

Clearly the DA does not understand BEE and cannot move with the times. I think the ANC should force all DA members and voters to attend a mandatory rehabilitation camp for at least 2 years.

BEE is the policy destroying the country causing South Africa's poor to fall ever and ever deeper into poverty.
Leave them. They'd rather keep the poor uneducated & living in poverty with these bullshit policies in place than a government who actually does the real work of building a prosperous society.

Surely, Starlink can sell via a Local Partner, obviously with the right BEE Level?

That's pretty much how any non-local company does it.

The fact that this Local Partner might be politically connected is another issue
That's not their business model anywhere else and I doubt they will adapt it. Would likely increase the cost to the consumer.

And also how the "eating" hierarchy works.

BEE is necessary for the continued upliftment of our country, suggesting that it should be set aside to provide rural areas access to the internet is laughable.
The reality is all that funds used for upliftment has been stolen, but by the corrupt ANC government and their overseas friends. BEE should be abolished, it's at the core of everything that failed in South Africa.
Starlink could be a massive benefit to rural farmers and whole communities.

BEE is rotten to the core, it cannot be salvaged.
