How ****ing hillarious but what else can you expect from a desperate party wanting to cling to power at all costs.

The election of Truman Prince as president of the Independent Civics Organisation of South Africa (Icosa) on Monday has put the Democratic Alliance in a tight spot.

Prince, former ANC mayor of the Central Karoo district municipality and Beaufort West municipal manager, beat Sam Dhlamini to the presidency in Icosa's first national congress.

The DA has recently abandoned the ANC as a ruling partner at several central Karoo towns and formed coalition governments with Icosa. The agreement between the two parties is that Prince does not get involved, either as a councillor or as an administrator.

Cling to power? what power have they ever had? I thought you could think broader than this :( Has not the DA sided with the ID in the Karoo as well? Seems like a good choice to me.

After reading the article - twice, very carefully I still fail to see how you made your assertions Tibby? Trying to stir again or just trolling as per usual? Maybe you should stick to posting in the motoring threads 'cos that appears to be the only thing you know anything about.

Why is this posted in 'off-topic'??

Can we PLEASE move this to the 'political' section?

*Oh, let's not forget, ol' Truman was ANC first....

The DA made a huge outcry about Prince, wanting him kicked out of politics. Now that it gives them some power, they are willing to go into an alliance with him

This has got to be the most misleading headline of the week.

Tibby, Prince is an ANC member. He's also part of YOUR community. The way you are tying him and his activities to the DA is simply rubbish.

If you cared to read the story properly, you will see the 'link' is not intentional and cannot be seen as support. In fact the DA said before that any deal in that council must not include Prince.

But, hey, then don't let the truth get in the way of your political posting agenda.

Incorrect. He was an ANC member but he was fired by the ANC when those allegations arose.

Otherwise I agree with you...the DA haven't shown support for Trueman Prince...they are considering it.

Skeptik : Wrong. He was an ANC member. Then he was fired after the allegations (The DA was partly responsible for him being fired by the ANC. They made a huge fuss)
He then created ICOSA.
The ANC and DA refused to have anything to do with him, and rather decided to form a coallition rather than let him be in power.
Seems the DA's priciples have changed somewhat since then

Let's get a few facts out of the way:

The election of Truman Prince as president of the Independent Civics Organisation of South Africa (Icosa) on Monday has put the Democratic Alliance in a tight spot.

Prince, former ANC mayor of the Central Karoo district municipality and Beaufort West municipal manager, beat Sam Dhlamini to the presidency in Icosa's first national congress.

The DA has recently abandoned the ANC as a ruling partner at several central Karoo towns and formed coalition governments with Icosa. The agreement between the two parties is that Prince does not get involved, either as a councillor or as an administrator.
...
After his expulsion from the ANC, he joined Icosa, which after the local government elections held the balance of power in Laingsburg, Beaufort West and the Central Karoo district council. After this, the ANC and the DA made coalition-governing agreements.
The DA recently dumped the ANC to form a ruling alliance with Icosa.
...
He said the DA had informal talks with Icosa officials and asked them to take a "firm decision" on Prince.

So the DA are trying to hold onto the municipality by forming coalitions. They don't want Prince, but he was subsequently elected president of their alliance partners, ICOSA. Now the DA is naturally unhappy with that and have stated as much. Most probably they'll give him the boot. So where's the "support for Prince"? If anything, the story is the opposite.
