Fridge repair company said they couldn't find anything wrong. And if it is the known issue why would insurance cover it? Has nothing to do with the power surge. It's just a coincidence.
Looks like they were looking for visible burns. Complete rubbish. Electronic equipment not always burns from power surge, just stop working. And they would have to prove it is a known issue - means - if it is a "known issue" they would certainly know how to fix it.
False insurance is like false security - you have no insurance at all.

At this point I think all I want to see are the words "Apple Authorized Service Provider" on the door of wherever I go. I've had enough. I just need my laptop back ASAP.

Well people have been using Denis after the authorized establishments failed them.

i have been using him for years.
i have taken 3 mbp's of my own & that of 2 friends to him to sort out for the same issue - all run perfectly now.

since the repairs, i run sms fan control - all stay cool:

I also lost a laptop to load shedding, really odd that it died but as the power cut so did the laptop and never ever worked again

Just finished setting up replacement for VDSL router, multifunction inkjet with fax, scanner, PC and two wireless phones in my friends house. All stopped working last weekend after terrible storm in JHB. PC is dead (power supply survived). Phone wires have burns on the plug before lightning protector, but I openned fax, no visible signs, neither on the scanner (which was plugged to the same USB hub as fax). Both device have logic working, just USB interface not working. Have yet to see assessor, but I am sure everything will be covered...
