Dark Fibre / SADV rep on MyBB? Fibre Coverage

Hi,
I went on Dark Fibre's website, gave them a call and they transferred me to SADV.

I would like to ask from a SADV or Dark Fibre rep whether I can get fibre to my home. On the dark fibre coverage map, there's a cable running in a street adjacent to mine W20P10, I'd estimate the cable's location is around 15m away from my home. The person on the phone told me essentially no, but it didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about. So would it be possible? There is a "mini manhole" above the fibre's installed location in the street.

Go the SADV website and check their FTTH covarage. DFA fibre is mostly for businesses. SADV does the FTTH side of things

On mine it is "SADV on net subject to feasibility" So basically, is my OP feasible by SADV.

I had the same issue with fibre from SADV within a couple meters of my boundary wall. That On Net Subject To Feasibility just means there is fibre in the ground, but they will have to do a feasibility study of the area to decide whether it is worth it to them to spend money trenching to houses/estates along the route. There's no guarantee that anything will happen, unfortunately.

Try Vox as well, they can also connect you to DFA, but it's usually reserved for businesses.

I have the situation, the cable and manhole junction is 2 meters away. The strange thing is that there is already a Fibre provider (Vodacom) and DFA trenched around the suburb regardless ... there are no business there, yet it doesn't look like there are any plans to roll it out to the residents.

DFA do NOT roll out to Residents. They leave it to other companies to do that.

PM me your details and I can advise.

Hi,

We have SADV FTTH and Vuma, from my little exposure to them it seems they're more interested in connecting apartments and complexes than single standing homes.

Not true. I can't speak for Vumatel (although I do have some insights there), but at SADV we have a 60/40 split free standing homes/complexes for our current and future roll-out plans.

Thanks for that info, I just based my assumption on the signup page coverage.
Do you maybe have plans to offer 200mbps fibre like Vuma?

Based on inquiries from customers and ISP's, that is currently sitting with technical and management for final approval. So hopefully soon.

Great! Hope it goes through. So far I had great experience with SADV support and maintenance with only concern being speed and if there is a some kind of shaping on top of ISPs.

if there is a some kind of shaping on top of ISPs.

We pass through pure layer two to the ISP. Any shaping or throttling is done by them. We only rate limit your line according to the line speed your ISP buys from us, but that's layer two.

Could you please advise how i can get SADV to do a site visit to check feasibility ?

The blue line indicated is a recent install by DFA to a business directly opposite our houses.

The yellow marker is our houses in he Golf links Estate with existing over hanging telephone lines
so no trenching/digging.
We were again overlooked by most , then for ADSL VDSL and now fibre.
