I some times wonder with all the new products for Data and fax on the market, who is responsible for testing and forwarding specifications communications To the Dealer or sales persons. On this stage I feel like been the local gini-pig when it comes to Data and fax and proving the capabilities of all new products introduced to the market.

So far the biggest problem that I encountered is the use of enhanced Fax facilities with any of the products supplied today.

As soon as faxes have to be send threw any data card, including the Fast link, Huawei or Novatel data cards we had to learn the hard way that these cards could not support faxes to be send using software like Win- fax pro, Bit ware fax or fax talk. The Tellular fax phone ones again have some problems of it's own. As soon as a fax is been send to a fax machine connected to a ISDN line, the call does not connected at all, this is not just a network problem, but seems to be a cellular to telkom connection problem and also it does not support HSDPA as yet. In short it seems like there is only two options left, either signup with a company like omni fax for fax2mail and mail2fax or use your normal cell phone with a data cable and software like Win-fax. Else let me know if you guys know of something on the market I don't.

I also tried my fastlink card to send/recieve fax but it doesnt work. Windows picks up the E620 as a fax modem but te fax dont work. Maybe someone at huwai or mtn can create a software that would work.

I have been assured by Kevin Sun from Huawei that the E620 does support faxing. Perhaps you need to have faxing enabled by MTN for your SIM card?

Good day,

All sim's should by default be loaded with basic/fax and data so there shouldn't be any need to load anything else onto your SIM's profile

I'll confirm if the E620 can or can't from Huawei

If you want me to check if your sim has or hasn't got basic fax and data loaded on it or not PM me your number and I'll check

The problem of a fax not working from a mobile to ISDN lies with the configuration of the terminal equipment on the ISDN line and is not a problem with the mobile. When the mobile sends a fax it is the equivalent of a ISDN line and therefore requests the fax service of a 3.1khz bearer. If the Telkom line Terminal equipment has been set to telephone the call will be rejected as bearer not availble even though a Telkom Analogue line can send a fax to the ISDN line as there is no intellegence and all calls are set up as 3.1khz audio

I thought I'd give this another try having recently upgraded my E620 to the 11.16.09.09.11 firmware, but still no go. I called 1555 and was assured that the E620 does not support faxing. How can I get to the bottom of this?
