My Aunt got a nasty surprise with her data bill for last month. She claims she checked her data balance on a vodacom app which gives you your balances etc. But she still went out of bundle and got nailed for it.

What apps do you guys use for monitoring your data usage on the iphones?

I use an android phone, and built into the OS is a data monitoring app. On it I can set my mobile data limit and I can also see which apps used how much data. See screenshots below:

Please can you recommend an app for my aunt which offers similar functionality.

Thanks

iOS also has a built in data monitor. But if she doesn't want to go to settings every time to check her usage try something like 3G watchdog.

I have used 3G watchdog, a good app. I would like to find something that shows whats using up the data too. My aunt claims she doesnt use much data - so i am not sure if any apps are syncing data or doing updates over 3g.

You could check out an app called DataMan (there is a Next and Pro version) it may help and can alert you when you are at X% of your bundle. Check what apps are allowed to use cellular Settings, Cellular.

Its already provided by iOS. Settings--> Cellular --> Apps allowed list provides stats on usage.
