Reading this story on Fin24 make me wonder if we will ever get to a place where we have world class internet in this country.

Each time we hear of this Super-fast internet being introduced into SA it would seem that we once again fall short or the ordinary man in the street just cannot afford what they offering. Our ISP's seem to throw around the word uncapped without hesitation but when you really look at these offerings they have that small print "acceptable usage policy(AUP)" that really make these packages a wast of time. At times it is better for the end user to work out how much data they need and rather try and just purchase a capped package to cover this.
We have seen Showmax and Netflix introduced into SA in the last few years but we still need to find an ISP that can really support these at a reasonable rate, so far I sure am battling to find such an ISP.

Johannesburg - South Africa has the second highest data contract prices among a select group of seven countries, according to a study prompted by the local #datamustfall trend.
Research company Tariffic has compared the prices that South Africans pay for “data only” packages comparative to BRICS-member countries Brazil, Russia, India and China.
The study also compared South Africa’s data-only pricing to emerging African market Kenya and the first-world, developed market of Australia.
