[Data usage is] Way too quick

Got connected via Vodacom only because telephone lines are not available, and no Sentech or iBurst coverage.

Visited a discussion forum, the vodacom site and google (6 page impressions in all) and all I noticed was how quickly usage jumped to 3.75 MB!!! Checked my temp folders and it's not even 100KB. Visit a page that's 35KB and it jumps by 100KB with each refresh.....huh?

Have you considered that it might not just be browsing?
Any other updates or downloads happening in the background?
XP, Office, Adobe, Antivirus, etc.

I would not trust Vodacom' accounting if it was audited. They will add more network overhead and BS to ensure you run down your cap ASAP.

What is the contention ration .......... if I am going to pay premium rates then I want premium response.

No updates (except if it is vodacom automatically updating their apps), have no spyware.... I go with MyDraadloos. In fact, I will create a webpage of known size, visit only that page and refresh like mad. I'll do it in a controlled research environment with research funds (I am employed as a researcher). You just cannot help to think you're getting nailed... then maybe it is just us S'africans....
