He lost his mind.

Do you job and reduce the cost of producing energy by firing 80% of your leaches

Increasing the cost each time is like throwing more RAM at bad code.
He's not allowed to. The Unions and then the Government, made that abundantly clear within the first year of his tenure.

Don't blame De Ruyter for that inflated staff bill at ESKOM.

ESKOM's main function is to produce jobs, not electricity.

How much are we making relative to the 35 countries? I don't remember saying anything about the 90s and now.
What does it matter? It is completely irrelevant.

The studies have shown that ESKOM has an incredibly bloated and overpaid staff roster....but you will NEVER admit to that.

ESKOM 's main function is to produce jobs, not electricity.

De Ruyter says Eskom doesn't deserve taxpayer money, but must increase tariffs

Eskom can't rely on government bailouts forever, but the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) must also come to the party and allow the power utility to increase prices to match the cost of producing power.

This is the view of Eskom CEO André de Ruyter in an interview with Professor Anton Eberhard, director of the Power Futures Lab at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.

"We are well aware that we are not entitled to a cent of taxpayers' money," De Ruyter said in response to a question about the R220 billion in government bailouts Eskom has received since 2008.

Easy choice. Either that or we have a national blackout

So full of **** we are getting price increases to fund the corruption that decimated the utility.
We are being charged ridiculous amounts` of money for a basic need.
And we have to pay the price for this

About the same as it was in the 90’s. We aren’t making any more power now compared to then.
Also, is it too much to ask for Eskom to get back to where it was as the number one spot in the world winning awards and stuff?
It will never happen because they got rid of the majority of the experienced whites which were head hunted by other countries.

Eskom is a most unproductive and inefficient company around. Prime purpose of Eskom was to enrich blacks, a government strategy.
Yes, but the part of the revolution is now behind us, we are now fully empowered and we are on to the next phase, this time no enrichment of anyone will be allowed, we promise.

I would have no issue paying the current prices if the supply was stable. Can't have it both ways.

I'm sure his fanboys will be along to defend him though...

They had big increase since 2008 and it did not help.

Time for them to cut their costs base.
