I had signed up initially for a 1GB mobile data bundle with Axxess using a prepaid number. I then upgraded it to a 5GB mobile data bundle towards the end of last month to start 1 Aug 2015. I had used the prorata data last month (on 25 July to be exact), however when I tried to connect to the internet today, I discovered my sim card was deactivated by MTN. This was unbeknownst to me as I had used this same sim with axxess data just a week before. I contacted Axxess requesting the data (which I now cannot use) to a different number. Axxess however doesn't want to do this because at the moment they hav a client who paid for something they simply cannot use, so they basically get money for free! This is 5GB, so I paid R246 for something I cannot use.

I have 3 mobile data bundles with Axxess, I have a good mind to cancel all 3 and move over to Afrihost. Axxess simply does not care!

Check you Neotel coverage on their map on their website.

If you are covered, buy one of their CDMA stick modems upfront for either R549 or R799.
The cheaper one allows a sinlge connection, the other also acts as a wifi hotspot, allowing 5 other wifi connections for multiple devices.

Normal 3G modems (as sold by Vodacom, MTN, Cell C etc) don't work on the Neotel Network.

Buy prepaid vouchers at either, Checkers, PnP, CNa, Edgars, Spar or Woolies.
You load these on the Neotel website by entering the SIM number and voucher number.

Their prepaid data bundles are cheapest:

- 2Gb data for R49.00
- 4Gb data for R89.00
- 7Gb data for R149.00
- 24Gb data for R499

If you go the 24 month contract route, its even cheaper.

10Gb per month at R148 (X 24 months)
15Gb per month at R198 (X 24 months)

I switched from Axxess a little while ago as they are still expensive and had constant disconnections and had to reset profile through their support team every few weeks. Spent more on support calls than data.

PROS

- Cheapest data
- Stable line (no disconnections)
- Very suitable for browsing, email and youtube.

CONS

- Limited to an average of 2mb download speed (enough to stream youtube clips)
- No online metering to gauge your usage before topping up again.
- Upfront cost of modem
- Coverage limited to major metropolitan areas only.
- Not suitable for bandwidth hogging games.
