Spanish police are searching for clues to explain the discovery of a dolphin carcass in a Madrid park, after local zoo workers said they were not missing any animals, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The animal's partially decayed body was discovered on Tuesday by a dog walker in Madrid's largest park, Casa de Campo.

Police said the body was found wrapped in mesh wire close to a park cycle path. There was no immediate explanation as to how the dolphin got into the park.

According to Spain's ABC daily, Police are investigating the possibility that the dolphin died during a private animal transport, which may have led the owner to dispose of the body in the park.

Private ownership of dolphins is illegal in Spain.

Probably came on a ship from North Africa and couldn't survive the trip.

They don't call dolphins the refugees of the sea for nothing.
And what happens when they've arrived at your tank? Demand tuna and to make the place look like where they come from.

And try to talk s**t about dolphins without people attacking you.

Yes but you've got to accept that it's not all of them that are bad news. Some really needed to escape the cove and it was our responsibility to take them in and help them get back on their flippers. Sure, a few ex-seaworld dolphins managed to sneak in with them and are the ones causing all this trouble. To get back at humans for the way they've treated them.
