I can't see it happening. Maybe commuted to a life sentence, but I'll be very surprised if they end up hanging him.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't execute him considering who's in power now.

I hereby propose that all these people form a MNP/MNC party (Misunderstood National Party/Congress, take your pick depending on your inclination). How does that sound?

Would they get a seat on the security council? Oh, some already do... ;)

Who is actually surprised? The trial was a bit of a farce anyway.

I would be suprised as well. He is old now, so they will probably let him pass away peacefully like most great evil dictators have over the years...

He has already been sentenced to death, all he can do now is appeal, which will probably be rejected.

Robert Fisk's reaction

Of course, it couldn't happen to a better man. Nor a worse. It couldn't be a more just verdict - nor a more hypocritical one. It's difficult to think of a more suitable monster for the gallows, preferably dispatched by his executioner, the equally monstrous hangman of Abu Ghraib prison... But we can't mention Abu Ghraib these days because we have followed Saddam's trail of shame into the very same institution. And so by hanging this awful man, we hope - don't we? - to look better than him, to remind Iraqis that life is better now than it was under Saddam.

Who really cares!!! Oh wait - Our Department of Foreign Affairs do. South Africa should just keep its mouth shut and let the North sort out there problems.

Northern Hemisphere = War (which is fun) and other dumb stuff.

Southern Hemisphere = Drug wars (Brazil), South Africa (no comment - for the sake of not receiveing flak for this post) and a bunch of dangerous stuff (Australia).

Bin Landen is just waiting for him to be hanged, it will give him even more leverage to recruite suicide bombers. I am glad I am not in the states/europe at the moment....

america made a huge mistake

saddam knew how to control the secraterian (spelling) violence in his country
now that he is gone the sunni's are fighting the shyiates (spelling again)

its basically a war between the 2 for control of country

iraq will never come right and only a much much worse person that saddam is going to come power one day and be allies to Iran

once this happens israel is in the kuk and so is the US because lebanon will soon have a new government led by hezbollah

middle east is gearing up for a holy war
