Howzit guys. Just thought i'd let you know what happened to my vodafone branded N95. (AH I HATE VODAFONE LIVE SOFTWARE)..

firstly I changed the product code to euro 1 using nemesis, i then backed up my phone memory and then updated to v11 firmware from v10. all went well and my phone was debranded perfectly.

BUT....., when i restored my phone memory data i had backed up, the phone crashed and turned off. when i turned it back on, it said on the screen, "Phone startup failed. Contact retailer".. i was distraught.

I took it to vodacare in sandton immediately and the technician there told me it has to go into high-level repair. He said the N95 with a vodacom sim inside will not work without vodafone live software (which is a major lie).

And he said it'll take 20 days to repair and that it will have vodafone live software on it when i get it back which is not what i want at all.

It's ridiculous! Im furious!

The reason the technician lied is because he doesn't want every N95 user debranding their phones from Vlive software because vlive creates business and revenue for vodacom.

So the verdict is that if you want to debrand your N95 you can either

1) take it to a NOKIA store (not vodacare of vodashop) or
2) Use nemesis and do it yourself but you will lose your phone memory and you won't be able to restore it because the phone will crash.

If you have any views, questions, comments or answers, post them below
Thanx

If you have to debrand your phone take it to Nokia yes.

Don't use Nemises to change your product code. It's not worth it. I'll hate myself if my N95 turns into a brick because I made a stupid mistake.

Wait for firmware for your specific product code. You wont be sorry.

from the above it seems that changing product code can be dangerous...any comments?
