Im having issues often late night around 11Pm... netflix just stops.
I then proceed to using foul language followed by a speedtest, it often times-out or get speeds 0.01Mbps(download) but normal upload speeds. This lasts for a few min then returns to normal....Its a pain! maybe Tower Related ?

My LTE Uncapped has been slow & intermittent in Booysens PTA for the last few weeks. Getting worse now where sometimes only get 3G or cannot even connect! Last night 3 bars where I always have 5 with the external antennae?

So tired of "we will investigate and advise" - this has been going on for WEEKS now! At times it works brilliantly but so unreliable now! Going to point my antennae to a further tower tomorrow and see if that works. If only there was FEEDBACK beyond "we will escalate", "we are aware of your query" or "we will investigate and advise". So unhappy - how the heck am I supposed to play on-line games or *gasp* work from home?!

Not great my side either on peak (8-10PM). Currently <5Mbps (from 70mbps this morning) with pings over 100ms.

Failed back over to ADSL.

What is speeds during your peak times?

Off peak (say, 11PM to 8AM): 70Mbps or more.

During the day (say, 8AM till around 6PM): 50 - 70Mbps

On peak (6PM to 11PM)? On a good evening, 30Mbps. On a night like this past evening (a few hours ago), all the way down to 2Mbps. (Sometimes? I can't even run an actual speedtest since it completely times out.)

So on-peak performance is very touch and go.

Consistency hasn't been great for many of us on Uncapped LTE.

Thank you. Weekends?
Peak weekdays we will just revert to good old fashioned reading if needs be.

The response I have now received is as follows:

"This is a low throughput issue – It’s caused by Halfway House Metro Ethernet physical interface congestion due to bandwidth limitation during peak hours."

I am now waiting for a response on when they intend to resolve this.

Thank you. Weekends?

Weekends follow a similar pattern.

Saturday nights seem to be OK; but Sundays often get hit from around 5PM.

Thanks for letting us know: so we now know with certainty that it's congestion (though most of us guessed this already ;-)

This also explains why my service was perfect for the first few months before degrading early this year.

The good news is, it's not related to the towers themselves so it sounds like it can probably be fixed? This also explains why some users with a low number of sign-ups on their towers get hit by this same congestion. The bad news is: we're all stuck in contracts that we continue paying for while they sort it out; and while performance off-peak is brilliant, most of us need reliable Internet on-peak.

Let me ask you, how did you log this problem? I ask because you got quite a technical response, so the rest of us should do the same - via the same channel you used to get it...

Just got a call that they carried out "network optimisation" tasks in the early hours of this morning to resolve this. Sounds more like traffic shaping efforts than upgrading anything but will see what it's like tonight and Monday night when it's usually at its worst.

Those in and around Joburg/Midrand that likely route through Halfway House - do a few tests over the weekend and Monday's usual peak.

The congestion issue is worse this weekend. My speeds are just up and down. The moment i start a ping test my pings shoot from the 30s to the 300s. I am thinking of selling this contract and upping my adsl speeds again.

Last night and already this afternoon are same-old by me as well.

Was hitting ~70Mbps consistently this morning: it's already below 20Mbps (and 'true' peak hasn't started yet)... Worse, pings - like you - are fluctuating between 30ms and 350ms, so gaming is out.

Looks like whatever they fixed didn't make a difference.

I'll report back in a few hours once true peak has hit (since it's still mostly usable right now).

I'd like to submit a ticket as well.

How did you go about doing so? Did you log a standard call?

I am in PMBurg and am suffering the same slowdowns unable to stream anything at the moment.

I normally have a ping around 30ms and about 50Mbps

Half of what it was a few hours ago; which was less than half of what it was early this morning. A little frustrating.

At least it's still usable. But my ADSL line just about outperforms it at present (with way less/more consistent latency).

I am having similar issues that also started round about beginning of Feb. I am in Port Elizabeth however. In the beginning it was great. I was able to stream sports in HD while playing COD online with no issues.. services started to degrade in FEB and i logged a call with Telkom to investigate and also for them to come and realign my Antenna as the initial contractors did a very shoddy job. (they rocked up in a banged up Daewoo Matiz.. enough said) This call was closed without anything being done. I would loose connectivity from the 4g network and the router would revert to 3g but without any connectivity. A reboot of the router would solve this sometimes but not always. This happened again 1 April at 00:00 precisely. So i was thinking there might have been a change that would have resolved my issues. Over the weekend sadly i was not able to steam sports at all (very pixelated and kept buffering, also tried multiple sites not just SS) and playing online was out of the question. I recorded a 600ms+ response time to google DNS. I have since logged a call with Telkom to come and realign the antenna and have since had feedback they the call has been handed over to the "home visit technicians" who will contact me to set up an appointment. Lets hope Telkom sorts out their side as soon as possible.
