Another question please.
How do I identify the tower no with the std telkom router (B593s-601)?

I'm sure it was posted in the uncapped deal forum. Too lazy now to go through my modem settings, but I have the B513 and I saw it somewhere ..

Settings/System/Device Information on a B315s? Would assume router interface the same

CELL_ID:4182274
RSRP:-74dBm
SINR:>=30d

See it fluctuates between -74 to -77dBm and -25d to >=30d but tower constant

Their best effort yet

They called back this evening, want to send someone round now. Not that it will help in the least.

Seems like we have the same problem, during the day my internet flies, this morning before leaving for work I got 60mbs.
Tonight around 6:30 that will drop to between 0.5 and 2mbs. Have complained about this twice on the telkom FB page and each time they tell me they are investigating and will be in touch, but no one is ever in touch.
i miss TelkomZA :crying:

Im in Pretoria Moot by the way.

Has anyone in this entire tread actually been assisted or managed to solve the problem?

I doubt this is congestion, how can my download speed drop from +40mbs to 2mbs in a matter of minutes?. Surely not everyone in my area goes online precisely between 6:20 and 6:30.
it rather feels as if 1 person gets home and starts downloading the internet each night, and somehow uses all our bandwidth.
If there is a single culprit that's messing it up for everyone on our specific tower, then he gets to get kicked or banned or something. This is honestly not acceptable.

I feel the same in that I suspect that there's one ****hbag who's killing my tower too.

If you've tried all methods to get this resolved, message Jacqui O Sullivan on twitter (@jacquiosully). She'll get it sorted.
She should be running that organisation

Thank you, I will wait a week, if nothing improves and I dont hear anything from Telkom, i will register on twitter and message her.

Amazing to think that such a massive organisation as Telkom has such pathetic customer service. This is exactly why i'm not moving over to Telkom Mobile, at least with cellc when i call the customer service, someone answers (Don't get much help, but at least they answer)

I couldn't agree more-

My colleague ordered the service earlier this week, within 15 minutes of applying, someone had called him and sent him the forms so perhaps they're making progress or it could be a lucky once off.

Either way, I reckon that they should employ us folk here- we'll get this whole system up and running properly in no time!

I've got a similar issue to what many of you have mentioned. The last week or two speeds have dropped off significantly. I used to get anything between 30 and 50 Mbps down, now I'm lucky if I get 5. Seriously disappointing.

In Hatfield (Pretoria) by the way.

Have you logged a call with TM?
Could be an issue wit the tower...
Had a similar problem and was resolved within 24 hours.

Yes, I contacted their social media guys - sent through a private message with all the details. They said they'd escalate the issue and revert back ASAP.

I hope that works out.. I called 081180, options 3,1,3 and it worked well.
I also called at around 6PM so didn't have to wait for them to answer.

Same problem here. Speeds die around 6PM.

Messaged TelkomZA to see what they say.

Morning,

I am working from home and currently on 10mbps ADSL with 2 capped accounts via Vox Telecom, however the DSL network is so bad...best speed is around 5mbps (still paying for 10mbps) and last 3 weeks struggling with stability!

I applied this weekend for "telkom smart broadband uncapped wireless" to switch over but not sure this is the right choice?
I am in Pretoria Gardens...I guess Hercules area...

May I get your honest opinion...Is the the right route? Or should I tried something else? My Budget is R1300...

Options I see is ADSL (Bad) / LTE (This Thread is making my worried) / WISP?

Thanks in advance ...

I think that the degrading speeds are part and parcel of LTE- I also suffer from it but it drops during peak periods to a minimum of 15mb/s but usually to 30mb/s which I can deff live with. You would also have to factor in congestion and the performance of the tower which you would connect to. Have you checked the Telkom LTE Uncapped Website to see how many other users have taken up this deal in your area?

I recokon for R599 or even R699, this is without doubt the best offering unless you've got fibre in your area and prepared to pay the high price (my opinion) for it.

I would also check the following threads:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/715156-Telkom-Uncapped-LTE-Deal-My-Trials-So-Far/page208

and

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/562231-Telkom-Mobile-LTE-Speedtest-Results/page69

You could also request a home demo to see how the system performs- bear in mind that this test would be done without an external antenna properly setup (which is a very NB key to getting this product to perform).
