Degrading Telkom LTE Uncapped speeds

So my speeds did not get better, changed the antenna settings to internal also, didn't make a difference, called telkom 180 180, and they said there could be a issue with area or towers blah blah blah, so asked them when they going to send a technician to install my antenna , they said in 72 hours a technician should contact me, and gave me a Ref number, so will keep calling and nagging them.

Nag till you're blue in the face-
I struggled (multiple calls, e-mails, tweets, screaming, shouting, more calls, emails, more tweets etc) for a month to get my deice but once I set it up correctly, I haven't looked back!

Definitely tower congestion and not the Telkom backhaul or throttling. Like I stated in my post before yours, my speedtests are always above 30mb no matter what time of day. Weekend afternoon's they climb even higher but I have never seen below 10mb/s

Unless you are lucky to stay in a sparsely populated area, it seems this LTE is an excellent product for downloading, and for streaming at any other time besides 6-10pm.

My uncapped 10mbps line (with business uncapped) might be twice the price of the uncapped LTE, but at this moment in time would give a much faster experience...

Oh, my stats are from my 10gb+10gb sim.

Seems Last 2 days without the External antenna the speeds came back to normal.

Could it be network congestion, maybe all the Prepaid or capped users depleting their gigs all at once from the 1st to around the 10th of the month and causing congestion for the Uncapped users.

If this is the case will be frustrating to have a service were you can enjoy it towards half way through the month, but I am new to this as many users on this thread advised me wait for the Antenna to be installed (BTW calling telkom everyday 180 180... for that also...)

So lets wait and see...:erm::whistling:

6pm to 10:30pm every day this week my LTE has gone from bad to worse. Speedtest ping to a local server is over 300ms. If I trace route anything there is up to 600ms ping before leaving JHB. Speed will be anywhere from 5 to 15Mbps. The moment it gets past 10:30pm suddenly I jump up to 60-70Mbps and a 30 ping to speedtest servers. It is maddening.

Just a thought for those battling with speeds, seeing as Telkom has started rolling out LTE on 1800MHz your routers might be connecting to the 1800MHz network instead of the 2300MHz network. 2300MHz is being rolled out in 20MHz channel size and 1800MHz might be on 5MHz channel size. Which will give you a noticeable decrease in speeds. Does anyone know how to check what frequency the router is connected at?

Okay well did some tests on my side.

My Cell ID for TDD-LTE is : 8555520 on my MTN Steppa 2 which is band 1 lte compatible only cell id is : 8555530 so I think Cell ID is going to be the only way but not sure.

TDD will be 2300MHz and FDD will be 1800MHz. So that should help figure out if this could be the possible problem.

The older huawei routers allowed one to lock the frequency. Strangely that option was removed. Also the scheduled reboot option is gone...
