Proof that for some reason that if the traffic needs to pass through a certain JHB node it gets congested.

I'm pretty sure when I speedtest the Durban Vodacom server it uses a different route and misses that congested link.
Is this not part of Telkoms ploy for "peak" usage times to keep everyone "stable" how would they have not picked up on this already? seems too good to be true to me.
I've had this since Dec 2015 and since Feb it's gotten worse by the day.
My speeds currently in Durban vs JHB

JHB:http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5479846897
Seems you're right Cavedog, I'm guessing most Internation traffic goes through this JHB node, considering ping to Euro is over 1000Ms
To me it just seems one of their "peak" time throttling protocols is misconfigured causing all traffic to be throttled. I can't imagine that everyday at 8:20pm the whole of SA logs in and it instantly dies.
This to me seems time based configuration for the throttling protocol that supposedly should be for torrents but happening to all protocols.
Yeah any traffic that goes through that JHH link is a disaster. IF it was anything else than congestion the results would be the same no matter what server or traffic and prepaid should be unaffected then.
I don't think it's shaping or throttling I just think it's congestion and very bad congestion especially with smart phones also jumping on the LTE now with the 1800MHz LTE.....
So a misconfigured Mikrotik or firewall couldn't lead to this throttling? I find it verrrrry hard to believe that between 8:10-8:20 it just all goes tits up at once. Yet Durban etc is fine? Really makes me think something is misconfigured somewhere causing all users going through the same node being affected.
I've seen this type of issue at our local work branch to one of our international offices due to an incorrectly time based configuration on the firewalls.
Either way, what ever it is, surely ADSL would be affected too some how? And how do we proove this to anyone at Telkom to take a look?
Could be but I have no clue to be honest. Would be shocking if it is and they taking so long to fix it. If it is congestion I can understand it would take longer to fix to get extra bandwidth and hardware installed.
Yesterday evening at 7pm I got 5.5Mbps download, now at 6am I get 33Mbps download in same spot...
The above is with capped account. It wasn't like this until all this Uncapped nonsense came along...![]()
I said exactly the same thing tonight. I'm on capped 100GB + 100Gb since last year. No issues until month ago when they rolled out Uncapped across the entire freakin Western Cape.
No I am unable to play any online games. Lag is just too bad.
Condolences. At least I have an ADSL line and this is just my backup home/about town personal wifi hotspot account.
Yeah glad I didn't go for the contract. Still have ADSL as backup. Currently on LTE and it's flying this morning and pings are good. But who knows when it decides to go belly-up ...![]()
Yeah, this morning I get 42Mbps down and 4 up. Last night it was 3 down and 2 up.
Yeah indeed buzzing today.... If they get that congested links upgraded it will be awesome again. The tower I connect to does not disappoint!![]()

Bliksem !!
My distance is 500m only with external but on cell I hit averages of 40mbps down and 8mbps up (Sinr etc all in excellent range). Its great but bliksem jy maak my groen van jaloesie.Ja. Google measure my distance at 1.3km from the tower and there are tons of trees in the way. Today is windy and rain too but speeds still solid.
Torrents flying too
