Delivery bikes create havoc on South African roads

I ride not a delivery bike though

My 2 cents of south african drivers only about 5-10 percent aren't dicks

Lane splitting is legal

And yet just about every single robot i encounter drivers trying to make it intentionally hard for a rider

Which they normally can't
No matter how hard you try you can't prevent the bike from taking your lane (and not even delay your day ) ie we will have a lead on you before we go centre lane

I don't care just gives me an excuse the do a lekker pull away

And then lane splitting traffic you do encounter the 2 types the one that intentionally blocks you

And the worse one the one that looks like they want to push you off the road (have had to swerve a few of these)

I accept 90% + are dicks and ride always expecting the squeeze

That is exactly why riders do the pass at speed so that by the time they make their move you are past them
Same here. I generally do not lane split these days anymore because there is always an arse in a car that pushes you to the side of other cars or into oncoming traffic. A couple of years ago I got side swiped by an idiot in a Hundai that just decided he wants to be in the lane I am in while turning onto Oxford road in Rosebank. His insurance paid part of my damage but not all as they claimed blame was 70/30. This means that he is responsible for 70% of my damages and I am responsible for 30% of his. I got almost nothing.

You don't need to drive on the side of the road, just give the bikers a bit of space to get by, it's called being courteous.

How many years driving experience do you have?

I will even go as far as saying you can stay where you normally drive

Just don't shift all the way so close to the line that you almost run the risk of losing your mirror
Against oncoming traffic just to try and avoid the biker to pass

With those i blip down 2 gears and pass them anyway just to highlight your kak move won't have the desired outcome

I'm sorry but that's not my experience. I've seen bikers kick at cars which were driving normally but obviously didn't give them enough space in the middle of road. Now my problem with this is 1. It's not required by law. You're supposed to not cross the lines or touch the lines. Few people do that. 2. If you want to be courteous to the boys on the bikes, you have no idea as there are no road markings to show you how much space you should give them as a standard. So depending on the mood of the biker and maybe the type of machine he drives, you may get a kick, a finger or a blessing.

I don't know why bikers want to make their journey my problem. I drive in my lane. What they do is on them. I should not have to look out for them if they behave like other cars, i.e. stay in their lane and not lane split.

i don't expect it and most probably feel the same, the least i expect is when the road has a wide lane that allows splitting, just carry on per normal at least if you make a space thanks

And yet i regularly get intentional blockers ie they drive centre lane until they see someone lane splitting, then they block intentionally that is probably the ones that tend to get bikers agitated and illicit a bad response

Is their(both) behaviour wrong, yes

Nobody expects drivers to do illegal or the impossible or even to make it their problem

Have i encountered people that i believe breaking their skulls would be a favour to humanity - yes

That doesn't mean we can do it

Damaging someone else's property is just childish/stupid/ilegal

You are supposed to not cross the lines, but according to you there are no road markings (aka lines)... ja nee!

In life sometimes we find

Doing wrong isn't always ilegal
Doing legal isn't always right

Don't ket your morals/rules prevent you from doing the right thing

Yes, not all drivers and bikers are the same and guilty of blocking and rage towards each other.

I know in my experience that some people are just d*cks, On both sides of the road so to speak.

Being a human and letting each other coexist on the road will not kill anybody. Accidents do happen yes but life happens. The roads are just as safe as the people behind the wheel/handle bars.

I have been in more than one motorcycle accident. I have had broken ribs, have screws in my hand and have had concussions. I had people knock me down because they did not see me or was on their phones while driving. I have slipped on wet white lines and on oil spots on the road after it rained.

It does not stop me from riding or hate drivers. Most people on the road are good, but as in life, there are also assh*les. We should not make the sins of the few influence or view of the many.

I've haven't come across an arsehole biker in years, in traffic everyone makes space for them, less hassle as now there's one less vehicle sitting in traffic actually making the lines shorter. Let them by, little courtesy with an added benefit. It's just those fools with the boxes on the back that I would love to flatten. I especially make space for them as they can barely keep that thing upright most of the time.

those fools with the boxes on the back
The non-delivery bikes sometimes have boxes on the back, but it is not very big, usually not much wider than the motorcycle's handlebars. The delivery guys are a different story. They have normal tubs that you buy from Westpack or Makro attached half-assed to the back of the cycle on the luggage bracket, I have seen this done with a plank and some screws through the bottom of the box, even seen the boxes attached with cable ties to the bracket.

Snowfall is going to fill up the hospitals and morgues with delivery bike drivers - watch this space!
You just need some rain. When it rains, the lines on the roads get slippery as hell. In a car you will not feel it as you have traction on 4 tires. On a motorcycle you only have 2 wheels, you touch that road marking the wrong way or need to brake while on it, you are in for a slippery ride. I broke a bone in my thumb due to slipping on an oil spot on the road after it rained. The water lifts the oil in the tarmac up as it is absorbed by the tar, you will see this as the "rainbow" spots on the road after rain. Deadly stuff.

@MavChat

We should help the rain!

Let's make those markings even harder to see!

Uuuuhm, no. I ride on a regular basis so don't want that haha.

I do not know what SA still use the same road marking paint used before WW1. Other countries have adopted road marking paint that is not just more durable but also not so gloss/slippery. The new paint even has reflector chips built in, making it much more visible.

Ja, dis na daai dose wat ek verwys.

Phrasing!

ED is treatable.

Holy mother of out of context. We need a thread for out of context posts, could be a lot of fun.

I do not drive much on the roads, and in smaller towns such as where I stay, this isn't so much of a problem to me.

BUT, the Sixty60 fckers rushing up and down the aisles while we're doing our shopping ourselves are the bane of me! Bumping their carts against the shoppers while rushing to fulfill their orders in their required time will soon result in me starting to start handing out slaps. When trying to address them with your concerns, they just rush onwards, not even offering any apology.
