So its late night over here, in fact just a shade before midnight. Anyway, I'm in my element like the 60% of the SA population that follows test cricket. So to buoy myself up for tomorrow's final day of test I check out what the Aussie newspapers are saying about the "debacle" in Melbourne...and the first place I head to smh.com.au has good coverage along with an informative blog on the cricket.

The funny but was going through the comment section and seeing that instead of South Africans enjoying the demise of the Olde Enemy there were a bunch of Indian WUM's(wind-up merchants) making some ridiculous statements like this one:

Australia's cricket Team are not only not #1 - but not even #2. Conventional wisdom today would put India at #1 and S Africa at #2. Australia is at best #3 (that is if they are any better than England).

I might be growing a couple of grey hairs but I can't recall Indian ever winning a test series IN South Africa whereas we've gone over there, played on their dustbowls and BEAT them.

Everywhere you go on the internet, whether be the newsgroups or message boards, you'll get these delusional Indians who can't quite get over the fact that they lost against(almost the same Oz) team a year ago.

India were robbed last year. We all remember the umpiring that series. Hugely in favour of aus. India aren't number one but imho they definitely are number 2. Aus are number 3 imho, that might changed after kp gets hold of this bowling attack in the ashes next year.:D

India will never be #1 due to the fact that they cant win away from home, or at least away from the sub-continent. Their current team is the best chance they have though, I'd like to take them on in SA next year but we only play them again in 2010 (Feb/Mar in India, Dec/Jan in SA)

My point exactly, in fact with all their wonderful players they can't win anything outside of India or the subcontinent for that matter.

The only reason, I think, Indians are in such a state of denial is because their media has hyped them up to such an extent that any sense of reality has gone out the door when comparing themselves against a team like South Africa.

I remember seeing the Indians at Newlands last year and nothing they did impressed me, if I recall correctly that test match finished a day or so early.

I'm hopefull that Kirsten can turn that around. Not the easiest team to coach, but he's off to a flying start - would be good to continue the good cricket on overseas tours. The more teams playing top notch/competitive cricket - the better.

My general perception of the Indian public is that when there team wins 1 series - they think their cricket team is in world domination. Reading forums and stuff over the years thats the impression i get from indian cricket public.

Err, india won a world tournament in south africa (which is very far from their dustbowls as u idiots put it)... whens the last time south africa went out and won something in a world tournament ?? Anyways, india just beat aus 2 - 0 in a 4 match test series, and with their current squad i rate they could give south africa quite a run....

They are definitely a quality side but sometimes I think the hype gets to them...and more especially the cricket public. Although Tendulkar is a quality batsman, I've never had the feeling that he could single-handedly destroy a bowling attack on a wicket with moderate seam and bounce.

ROLMAO...we're talking about test cricket...a T20 competition hardly comes close in assessing the various disciplines involved.

He has made hundreds on the waca pitch when it was at its quickest. He scored many runs in both england and aus. The only place he has struggle has been SA for some reason. He can score runs on fast bouncy and seaming wickets.

They have good attacking batsmen...something SA must work on

Bring back Klusener, Rhodes & Gibbs :D

More like batsmen intent on suicide at the wicket but then again that's one thing I like about the Pakistan and Indian cricket teams...just tease them outside off stump with a bit of swing, like Pavlov's dog they'll react and that's how they get out most of the time swinging at balls they have no business going after.

I think Gibbs has wasted his talent and could've been amongst the best in the world but somehow the wheels have come off in a bad way...divorce then rehab...he'd be the first to see the back of 2008.
