Democratic Alliance e-mail spam complaint – the plot thickens

Face the devil you know than the devil you don't know. To overthrow the ANC poliically at the moment the only solution is the DA.
So making a big noise about a mis-step by the DA only assists the ANC.
PS. I am a "previously disadvantaged person"
ALSO, am done responding.
Time are hard. Need to find a way to COPE.
Maybe I should embrace the inner criminal and join A GANG.
Nah ... I say to hell with all these EFF'n MF's...
Voting queues suck anyway, I'd rather go stand in the queue for my new card ID

ha ****ing ha...

The DMASA 'do not contact' list is a POS. I had to email them just to be able to edit my details on the list as their web site is functionally broken and despite being on the list for a number of years I get as much spam as ever.

There is no will to reduce spam and perhaps a list like this should not be left up to the organisation that represents spammers?

There are far worse things going on in our country and in the world right than getting spam to one of your throw away e-mail addresses.

Wow... So I see the DA supporters on this forum are really working hard on spinning this!
Once they couldn't get us to swallow the "it's not so bad if we email you without your permission" bulls**t, now it's turned to "there are more important things than getting angry at us emailing you without your permission".
(they seem to have missed the logic that they themselves should rather get busy with some attempt at addressing those important world issues they're referring to instead of getting involved in this thread if it was so important to them)
Listen Helen, that bulls**t isnt gonna fly either!
What next?...

Plus I'm loving the coordinated play... it's got an american football feel to it.

Hello!!!

To each his own anti-spam little kingdom but in this case the DA clearly stated ..

“This email address was provided to us by this individual on the 22nd of November 2011 via a telephonic conversation in which we conducted voter canvassing.”

But what about that time you called me on the 13th of February asking me to rob a bank with you?
I stated it quite clearly.

Just cos someone somewhere says something, doesn't make any of it true.
C'mon DA supporters, please stop trying to spin this now.
You do realise the keeping this thread bumping up means that the headline "DA Email spam" stays visible to casual forumites and they all (I hope) would just end up thinking that the DA sucks.

What does that make you, a joe bloggs supporter? It's one word against another. This is politics. What people will do to discredit the next political party - perhaps it's just a story? Until there's proof, there's no point in debating it.

Not quite - there should be a double-confirmed opt-in as per CAN-SPAM.

Does the ECT apply to political parties as well? I was not sure on that. It seemed to mostly apply to commercial spamming, but I could be wrong. I remember I wanted to take this higher up in the DA the first time biometrics complained about spam (he has been complaining about that spam message he got for a while now)... but the only legislation I could find seemed to apply to commercial interests :/

Perhaps you can show me the relevant legislation so I can pass it on.

Just a warning, if the DA ever phones me or sends me a SMS or e-mail I will vote bloody EFF (if they are able to pay the deposit)!

A party should get support on the strength of its achievements and normal marketing, Coca cola doesn't call me or sends me spam e-mails or SMS, yet I still consume their products.

Yes, like the EFF :D
It's a sad day for politics when you vote the party that irks you the least before election day.

Well if thats the issue that decides the value of your vote then go for it. Each to their own.

So you're fine with the spamming?

No, which is why I wanted to take the specific law to some leaders in the party and tell them of the negative blowback a bad system will create.

However, I seriously have bigger issues I base my vote on. Stuff thats important to my whole province. Third world problems. Like the ability to have electricity, health services, education and a ton more.

Here's the deal. Politics suck. Some parties suck more than others. Parties are made up of individuals who don't always align themselves 100% with the party ideals. If spamming is the top of your list of evils, then by all means write off a political party who's members get caught spamming (for whatever reason). If it's corruption, theft and money laundering... well you know the drill.

Some parties suck more than others.
As far as I have seen, they all suck equally in SA, it's just that some of them have not yet been the government. Given the change, I have every confidence that they will suck as bad as the current government.

If that were the case, the party would have come out and admitted the truth and then apologised unreservedly for the actions of the few delinquents. Instead what we have her (maybe even including your post) is a pathetic excuse for a cover-up attempt.
If spamming is the top of your list of evils
So now you trying to make your point by belittling someone else's valid grievance? Not gonna fly.
If it's corruption, theft and money laundering... well you know the drill.
Like I said, that's only cos the others haven't had their turn at being the government. If you really believe that other political parties are less corrupt than the government, you live in a dream world.
