Part of the appeal of Trump is he has never claimed to be anything other than a rich New Yorker.

He doesn't put on a "black" accent when he goes to talk to a bunch of black people. Nor does he put Spanish in his speech when talking to voters in Texas.

Yes people became completely disillusioned with Obama, who does have good charisma, but nothing really of substance beyond that. Hillary lacked substance or charisma. So yeah most Americans don't care or basically see both parties as equally bad, which they basically are.

Trump has been completely underestimated, he is politically very smart, has a dedicated base and has acknowledged that America actually went backwards for most Americans under Obama "Make America Great Again". For a long time now, to be a successful politician in the US you had to pretend to be an "outsider" who is against "the system" (think McCain 2008). Thing is they're all clearly such establishment people that nobody is buying it. Well with Trump they actually did, they're really desperate, US voters are.

Personally I support Bernie so you know where my politics lies. But Trump has been not only underestimated but also ridiculed by the establishment, and they got a big fright with him. Now he's the incumbent, it's not going to be easy to beat him.
