Denel has a new CEO as Tsepo Monaheng takes over

State arms manufacturer Denel has a new boss after the appointment of Tsepo Monaheng as the new CEO of the company.

Monaheng is currently the CEO of state-owned forestry company, Safcol, and Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan said on Friday that Monaheng will take over at Denel after he has completed his commitments at Safcol.

I was looking more at his academic qualifications and prior experience at Denel. Looks like there is a trend of bringing back the guys who might have been chased away during the state capture years, of course just speculating, I am not why he left in the first place.

The long-troubled Denel received a boost in its restructuring efforts when the South African government agreed to recapitalize the ailing firm with a ZAR3. 4 billion injection in late 2022. The funding is the latest attempt to keep the state-owned company from failing completely.

I also don't believe they, even if they were honest, could run a large SOE or Company on their own without bailouts.
