Dents from others opening their doors against your car

There really are zero F's out there anymore! My Ranger is 18 months old and in that time I have had to get the paintless dent guy to come and remove dents in my doors on 3 occasions. Last week I noticed that both passenger side doors have a small dent at the bottom again!!

Today I walked past my wife's 3 month old Ecosport and low and behold, a moerse dent in her right rear door!

We both make a point of parking far away from other cars when going to shopping centre's or grocery stores, but often when you come out someone has parked next to the car. People just don't give a darn!

It infuriates me no end. You take the best care of your car and others damage it without caring. While the cost to remove is a few hundred per dent, my "guy" is a mission to get hold of to come and visit me as he is in such demand here. I will have to beg him next week to visit me to repair both cars as I will be grumpy until sorted.

Anyone else finding this carelessness on the increase?

I don't just park far away. I go to the farthest part of the parking lot that is generally vacant and remains so. Not even the car guards bother to follow me all the way back to my car.

I do this for all the reasons stated above, and it works for me.

I always take corners and difficult parking spots, but I still accumulate my fair share of dents.

How much is the dent removal on average?

I have always used a mobile guy - works from his car and comes to me. 1-2 dents are normally R300 or so to completely remove. He is very good. Unfortunately I am struggling to get him to fit me in lately :-(

Tell me about it, have to take my car in to have them repaired. It really isn't difficult to open your doors without hitting the car next to you...

I understand your frustration. Even when you park on the other side of the planet, someone will end up next to you. I'm considering getting the dent and scratch removal insurance. Its like R100 a month but they fix all small dents and scratches once a month.

Well I know most Rangers can barely fit in parking spaces at the newer shopping complexes....

With my luck I got a dent from somebody at my flat complex. :(
Can't even get away from the morons where I live. Sigh.

Car manufacturers should bring back that rubber strip running along the side of the cars. It saved a lot of heartache.

It must be an East London'er thing, I can't say I've noticed that very much in Cape Town, maybe I've just been lucky. I tend to just make sure I have enough space on either side of my car when parking.

Then again, also helps to have a smaller car, less to dent. But generally, people don't give a damn.

Same here; I can't really complain in crowded CPT malls..
