Lack of generator fuel forces Joburg High Court matters to go virtual

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) has affirmed that the generators that have been provided to the Johannesburg High Court by the department are reliable and work accordingly.

This confirmation follows last week's announcement by Gauteng Deputy Judge President Roland Sutherland that court hearings would be moved online due to the ongoing load shedding.

Of course, gloss over the critical failure; - But you have a perfect car. Why are you complaining about no fuel?

Online? During load shedding where different areas are at different times?

Generator Rental - R5,345,239.00 per month/per generator.
Diesel Cost - R2,379.87 per litre.
The amount of gravy flowing... Priceless.

Stage 7 and above clearly call for more than a single generator, as they cannot run continuously without maintenance and breakages. A lot of our planning has been for up to Stag5, and some short bursts of Stage 6, only. Traffic lights for example are not lasting 4+ hours on a battery. So once again, the community and business have to shoulder additional costs, or lose business... The Eskom increase just puts salt in the wound, as business has to be competitive, and the community has no-one to pass costs on to. In the end, it is the consumers and taxpayers who are being punished.

So basically, the f**king generators do not work.... Generators need fuel to work. f***king idiots.

If only they had solar powered pumps...green energy to the rescue!

Lol... if green energy was, at all possible to save the world, it would have been widely in use by now. It is impractical, it is expensive and cannot work in most first world countries, let alone collapsed third world countries like South Africa. It is time to forget about green energy.

There is a solar system with your name on it, or do you like to pay more?

No, here is the thing. If electricity goes out of my affordability range, I will simply hookup with illegal connections and share my illegal connection with hundreds, thousands of poorer people a few hundred meters from me in a location and two open field areas. If they want to come try and disconnect, they can deal with the poor. I will never be without electricity. I will pay what I can afford or else I get it totally free.

So you will rather be a thief than buy a solar system....good choice!
