Despite challenges, SA much better than it was 29 years ago: Mashatile

Besides moegoe Mashatile, slippery Cyril said we must praise the ANC for what they have delivered since 94.

Well, the list is endless.

The Rand/Dollar exchange rate went from 3.65 to 19 since 94.

Petrol price from R2.65/L to R24+ since 94.

SA Economic growth down from 4.5% in THEN-R/S terms to 0.3% in NOW-R/S terms.

They've lost Iskor, Transnet, Spoornet, Portnet, SABC, PostOffice, SABC, SAA, Eskom since 94.

They've lost 44 000km of roads since '94. They've increased our crime levels to exceed both Mexico and Columbia on the mean index since 94.

Population has increased form 35 million to 65 million since 94.

They've gotten 1.2 million small businesses closed since 94.
They've created conditions whereby 1.4 million tax payers have emigrated since 94. 400,000 of whom contributed over 15% of the total personal income tax.

They've run 22 cities into the ground since 94.

They've created 480 new municipalities, and run them all into the ground since 94.

They've managed to pollute all our major rivers since '94 to the extent that the entire ecosystem is dead. Look at the Hennops river - so dead there's not any life left in it at all, except for the bacteria.

They've managed to destroy 4 major dams in terms of ecoli levels since 94.

They've killed the St Lucia estuary since '94.

They've bought 3,200 milk farms since 94. Only 4 remain.

They've bought 8,400 cattle and citrus farms since '94 - only 23 of them are still producing.

They deserve all the praise they can get, I guess.

The legacy of the proficient ANC!

Which years are you using the measure GDP at 4.5% growth before the ANC?

The World Bank puts SA growth at:
1.2% in 1993
-2.1% in 1992
-1% in 1991
-0.3% in 1990

I call a spade a spade. I see what I see, not what I'm told to see and think. Call me a racist or a verkrampte or far right or crazy or white supremicist. Water off a duck's back my friend. I see reality of South Africa today and compare it with the better lives of all law abiding citizens of the old regime.

Your forum name seems fitting.
See if you were really as smart as you believe, you would know not to judge the majority by what the minority did. So according to your logic, only whites were never corrupt, never did vote rigging, never stole or murder etc.

SA worse off than we were pre-94? 'That's NOT true!' - Prof Steven Friedman

Professor Steven Friedman joins John Maytham to provide a critical evaluation of Deputy President Paul Mashatile's recent annual address to the National Council of Provinces. In this address, Mashatile discussed the advancements achieved in South Africa since the pivotal year of 1994.

We need to value what we have, which is not only improvement in all sorts of areas but a functioning democracy.

Dokkie pokkie Friedman, while you are a crony eating from the trough with your comrades earning millions, nothing have improved for the general people of the country, and most importantly, the suffering nation cannot eat Democracy.

I was just having a chat to my 1 work colleague, native guy, young, and he said to me life was better when there was still apartheid. I wasnt sure if he was trolling me or not so I bit my tongue, he carried on saying there were jobs for everyone, public transport worked, food was cheap etc. I just smiled and nodded my head. Wasnt sure if he was recording me or not, I dont trust anyone anymore, especially Dawie Roodt

Problem is, people are relying way too much on news, which is basically propaganda machines for the government at the time. People are also relying on social media where the government plants its trolls to distribute propaganda. Best is to personally speak to the people on the ground and let them tell you what they think is better. This is where you will find your answers.

Yes 29 years ago we had:-
A military force that was functional and regarded as one of the top 5 in the world
A police force that had some of the best detectives and investigating units in the world
. they also had the best forensic labs you could get
A judiciary that wasn't bias, bought and in the anc pockets
A railway that worked
The best energy producer in the world being Eskom
One of the best airways in the world

Service delivery from government
No water issues and loadshedding
Some of the best roads without potholes
A government which was solvent with little corruption
Very low crime rates
We were almost 100% self sufficient except for Coco and one or two other commodities that aren't essential
We had the best mines in the world

We have far less unemployment
We had and education system
We had hospitals you could go to to get healthy/well
We had some of the best doctors in the world -real ones not fake ones
We had a postal service that worked and was world class

It will also only get worse

The African way, break all the things that were left to you.

Actually most Chinese people the only thing they know about South Africa is that Nelson Mandela killed the manufacturing industry/factories, not the wildlife or BRICS or minerals. Shows you how deep the production culture is in China

The South Africa you see today is proof that black people can not run a country. That's why. Unpopular opinion, but it's a fact unfortunately. Borne out by all the decay and destruction you see around you every single day. Almost everything they had in the old RSA was given to them by white taxpayers. Today, the same story, even though they are in charge. They are still incapable of providing anything for themselves.

Travel through Africa. Every single economic activity is done by foreigners. Commercial farming, mining, construction, railways, communications, irrigation, civil engineering. All done and financed by foreigners.

"There is blacks that govern this country, just not these ANC blacks" 1992appr.

Well, the list is endless. Here are a few of their 'achivments' off the top of my head before I go into a meeting.

And the majority kept voting for it for the whole 29 years, something, somewhere must be going right for someone.

Yeah R350 grant payments, increasing unemployment and then even more grant recipients. Then they equate to voters to keep that R350.

Even the veterans ANC members are walking away:

they probably not granting him him and his family members enough tenders - so he isn't able to steal enough money so he is probably quitting to go to the next party in power who will let him steal more from the SA treasury

Yes really.

Even the veterans ANC members are walking away:

Rats are the first to run when a ship starts taking on water.

What Mavuso is complaining about is not new. As he says, it has been around long enough to now become party DNA. More than happy to watch corruption be normalised under them when the going was good and everyone was chowing lekker, growing those tender boeps. But now its not so lekker anymore and he speaks out. The money is drying up, they cannot hide what they are doing anymore and with them losing their grip on power, the cushy positions will start diminishing. Wouldn't be surprised if the infighting and finger-pointing escalates, as they determine whose fault it is that there is not enough fat and gravy to slather themselves in anymore.

Fvck any cadre that cries about corruption and the collapse of SA now. They were there when it became de facto party policy to feed off of the state at the expense of the country and its citizens and they benefitted from it. They protected Zuma at every turn when he sent state capture and looting into overrdive (this includes that president of ours). As a collective they should be in jail. Swines.
