This should be fun!

The Eidos Forums offer an extensive discussion of Deus Ex 3 based on a preview of the upcoming action/RPG sequel:

-the world is ruled by megacorporations, more powerful than national governments. The conspiracy groups are setting these corporations against each other.
-the black ops slaughter the research division of the corporation Adam works at. The questions who and why is behind the attack are answered relatively soon into the game, however more serious questions arise with the answers.
-You will be regularly visiting Adam's apartment with many reminiscences of his past like photos and a diary
-The game takes place in five well-known metropoleis, mentioned were Shanghai, Detroit and Montreal
-Women play a large role in the game, some of them you've known for a long time, others will try to seduce or betray you, depending on your previous actions
-Bosses are included, their difficulty also depending on your previous actions
-The secret societies are just puppets for a shadowy figure who wants to take control over all of the market, society, and the human evolution.
-The events of the game will lead to the establishment of UNATCO
-The main villain is to be 'similar' to Jensen
-a rescue mission across the globe later in the game
-squad based combat AI with a visually identifiable squad leader

Deus Ex 1 was great. The missions were fun and there was a good deal of replayability. The plot was intelligent. Many of the NPCs had interesting information regarding politics, or discussed interesting points in philosophy. (Case in point : the AI in Morgan Everitt's house.)

The sequel, on the other hand, was biggest, most dumbed down turd I've ever seen.

Not holding my breath on the 3rd instalment, either.

my personal theory is that the game companies have figured out the smart game players can more easely pirate the games they want, so it would only be common sense to focus on dumbed down games so that more people will buy, but mayby im just being cynical and they have learned from the horrendously stupid creation that was invisible war, hell even the game engine irritated me

rather try to convince those modders at dx hdtp to finish the damn patch so that we can replay deus ex with alot better detail.

Corporations have lost the plot literally.. Not going to get excited about any mainstream sequel ever again.

The first Deus Ex is in the Guiness book of world record for gaming for being.... get this.... the least violent FPS. :)

It's actually possible to finish the entire game and only have to kill two people! :D

There was a bug, if you threw a grenade at anna she would run and open the door for you. That way you could escape unatco without having to kill her :p

Only poor gunther that has to die in order for you to complete the game.

Best weapon to kill him = Law ;)

for me what was fun was running up to a guy from behind and shooting him in the face just as he turns around, that way he actually saw it coming hehehe
