SAPOA found that ageing infrastructure like water pipes, water treatment plants, roads, and electricity substations have become increasingly evident throughout various municipalities.

Using data from the municipalities' infrastructure plans and annual reports, SAPOA gave the City of Cape Town an 8% mark when grading it against the benchmark of what a world-class water infrastructure looks like. It gave all the other 14 municipalities zero. On stormwater infrastructure, it gave all 15 a zero. The City of Cape Town also got the highest grading for road infrastructure, followed by Emfuleni

I thought at least COCT would get a passing grade, did not even meet the 30% standard.

They've been letting things slowly fall apart. Many people in municipalities not doing their jobs, waiting on complaints before they take action.

Bejasys if you lot think CT is bad just see the rest of SA, all that is missing is the bullet holes in the walls. No water no electricity, roads wrecked, the lovely smell of shite all day long. Hordes sitting around waiting for the hand outs. Post Offices closed. Rubbish lying in the streets.
The Ukraine actually looks better than this shithole the ANC has created.

The problem is that COCT is not up to scratch, yes it is way better than the rest of big cities, but that should not be the benchmark.

I have been to all 9 provinces and all the major and minor towns. I been to towns where the roads have been decolonised back to "grondpaaie". I am not delusional as to the state of the South Africa. All I am saying that DA is very expensive for the very low standard of service you actually get, and yes it is low, just because it is much better than the rest, does not mean it is a passing grade, it just means our collective standards have dropped so much that COCT is considered world class.

It's a sadly half baked article and it doesn't even have references, it could have been nice to see how all the municipalities performed on the various metrics.

You can always look at pictures before '94 (Especially small towns ) and compare them to today for reference. You will be squirrel shocked

I've seen "grondpaaie" in better condition than some of the things we call roads. Most of the farmers worked hard to scrape their dirt roads on a weekly basis, some of them were in such good condition that you wouldn't even know it was a dirt road.

Agree, I was just trying to illustrate a point. I was trying to say that these were previously tarred roads that became so degraded that there is no tar left.

I can tell you about Durban.. They score -99 on all metrics. Useless incompetent fscking twats..

And what makes it worse is the workers on the ground are generally good but get royally fscked over by their political masters.

Or I can simply look at my own village before and after 94? I bet you would also be shocked with what you see.

Yeah, that's exactly why I am interested because Emfuleni has literally collapsed but it is apparently second to Cape Town in terms of roads.
