Good news for Kusile power station repairs

Environmental affairs minister Barbara Creecy has announced that her department exempted Eskom from amending its Atmospheric Emission License, subject to certain strict conditions.

Creecy explained that amending the licence would be lengthy, and Eskom’s application is specifically about quickly restoring lost electricity generation capacity to alleviate load-shedding.

“Eskom’s request pertains to a temporary solution to restore lost generation capacity at its Kusile Power Station while a damaged stack undergoes repairs which are due for completion in December 2024,” Creecy stated
There is nothing more permanent than I temporary solution. Especially if it means the ANC can kick the can further down the road and loot as much as they can while they follow behind.

While I am happy at the prospect of less load shedding, I wonder if this is the first domino to fall in the line to getting environmental approval pushed through for Gwedes magnum opus cash grab that is Karpowership

Oh sweet so will the same guys who broke it be fixing it? Or is it a new shell company assigned the task? Wonder how long when it's working again will the next super critical thing miraculously break?

Allows the Kusile units to come back online much quicker. This is quite good news.
all it means is Kusile will break down again, because it was built out of Paper mache.
the Comrades will find another way to break the Power station so they can FEAST!

after all everybody must eat, including the Fat idiot Greedy Gwede.

That's gonna be a huge roll of duct tape
None of these plants will ever operate again with embedded crime Cartels running around on the shop floor, there needs to be some drastic and dramatic changes before they're anything other than moneypits.

You won't make thieves go away by throwing money at them you'll just attract more of them.

Ya, I also have mixed feelings about this but its one of those forced hand things. Imagine the grid collapses (or LS level 16) while they are still trying to make these power stations compliant.

Its not ideal but at least it buys time for other maintenance. If we can get other power online then they can go back later and fix Kusile properly.

If you don't have time to do it properly, when will you have time to do it over?
