I got a promotional gift (so I did not pay for it!!) from RS Components. A GOBii 7" Colour LCD eReader Black with Micro-USB and Micro-SD.

Does anyone have the same reader? If you have figured out how to get a pdf to display in a more readable format on your reader can you please share your secret with me. I have played around with all the settings but cannot figure out how to get the display to be more easily readable. Maybe the the pdf's need to be reformatted or something.

The problem is that the characters are not smooth. Now I cannot figure out if it is because of the resolution of the screen or SW not rendering the pdf properly?

If you have a pdf page that display properly can you please attach it to you post or email it to the supplied email address. I have a page of 3MB big. Send a request to clarenza@gmail.com to get this page.

Traditionally, all E-Readers (Kindle etc) cannot display PDF's well as they cannot reflow the text. The problem is exacerbated due to the poor resolution of the reader.

So for what file formats where these e readers designed. Will it then make sense to convert to that format just to use the stupid e reader.

My Kobo displays PDF documents very well thanks.
The GoBii readers use cheap LCD screens, that's why it looks crap.

I converted the pdf to epub and it still looks crappy. I will play a bit more. I think in the end I will just throw it in the trashcan.

No need to struggle with something that is crappy.

Thanks for the help

PDFs render as well as on the PC, on an iPad. It must be the screen resolution and rendering engine.
