Did vodacom charge me R100 for a bounced debit order?

So I changed bank accounts and forgot vodacom was on still on the old savings account, anyway no money in that account and then they tried to debit and it didn't work. So I put money into the account. Then I see a rather large debit go off. So I've opened up my vodacom bill online and see an item charged R100.

Yes, that's correct.

It's failure to pay as well, i.e. breach of contract.
Happened to me last year when changing banks.

You failed to pay on the contracted date - not their fault.

You will find that the word "contracted date" means the debit will not go off before then, but it might be a day or two or three later. This is quite normal

yes.. the contracted date is like the 29th or something... yet in december they like to debit you on like the 20th

I've had this with Vodacom often.

My contract has a debit order date, they've always been a few days later, except in December when they're usually nearly a week early.

Happened to me and got the R100 reversed.... I took out a new contract and they charged me a extra connection fee which is supposed to be free. So they pushed more through than I expected in the middle of the month too and I was like short R2.50 and the debit order failed.

They charged me R100 extra even though I already had the connection fee credited and made a manual payment of more than the amount I was supposed to pay and my account in credit they still charged me the R100 failed debit order fee. So I queried it and they revered it today.

They charge R100 for failed debit order no matter what. If they debit you \r account and it fails R100 gets added. Very unfair. MTN does not charged that they just suspend the line until you pay. Wonder how much money vodacom make just by charging the R100
