History and Background:
Dies Irae was formed after the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. The name is Latin for Days of Wrath, so while it may not be the most original guild name, at the time of its conception it was oddly fitting. The guild was formed by disillusioned South African players from the US servers, who found that trying to raid at 4 am in the morning is simply not conducive to pretty much anything else. Before WotLK was released, the founding members re-rolled EU, and have been much happier since then. While we may be behind in some of the new content, we're gaining quickly, and our members are rapidly joining the ranks of the other achievement-hunting level 80's.

Many of our members have both Vanilla WoW and TBC raid experience, and some have even got some Northrend raids under their belts already.

Guild Expectations and Goals:
The idea behind Dies Irae is not to have a huge guild, but rather to have a relatively small guild (50 raiders), who raid and do instances together in a mature, fun environment. While there are quite a few South Africans in the guild, we're welcoming players from the world over, and already have some people from England, Wales and Sweden.

We're looking for members who are eager to see the content this game has to offer. Raiding solely for gear isn't good enough, because we want members who enjoy working together, seeing and experiencing new things together, and accomplishing goals as a team. This, for us, is the fun part of the game; getting that boss down as a guild after only 2 tries.

We're adult players, and – as such – are looking for mature, emo-free players who won't send a barrage of whispers or start forum rants over the odd expletive in guild chat or in Vent. As long as you're not abusing your fellow guildies, our motto is “Welcome to Dies Irae, where PC stands for Personal Computer”. We encourage humour in all it's form, and the majority of us speak fluent Sarcastic (without breaking someone down).

What are we looking for in our members?

Dies Irae is looking for dedicated, skilled and friendly players to join the ranks of our raiding group for our sojourns in to the Northrend raids.

Does the following describe you?

* You are a mature, self-sufficient player who has control over his/her emotions (probably the most important personal aspect).

* You can raid 3 days a week (still to be decided as per guild agreement from 20:00 - 23:00 GMT +2), and are possibly interested in a lazy Sunday afternoon raid.

* You understand English, and have Ventrilo and a microphone.

* You are willing to come prepared to a raid (includes being online 15 minutes before the time, getting your own flasks/pots/food buffs, reading strategies on the boss/bosses planned for the evening).

* You know your class and its item requirements.

* You don't mind 'dry runs' in order for everyone to be able to get an idea of the boss fight and the way we'll be doing things (strategies are all fine and well, but sometimes a particular fight has to be learned through individual experience).

* You are aware of the fact that the black hole at your feet rapidly eating away at your HP requires some action on your part.

What can we offer you?

We can offer you a serious (in terms of progression goals, yet fun in terms of pursuit) raiding environment which, while light-hearted and, above all, FUN, will cater for people who have real life limitations to their raiding and playing capability (we understand that real life happens) and cannot raid 7 days a week, for 4 hours a day. We also offer a care-free environment in which to relax after a bad day at the office (we understand and appreciate the fact that on the other end of the screen, there's a real person, who is – after all – paying a monthly subcription to a game in order to relax and have fun)

Where do you sign up?

Please fill in an application at www.diesirae.co.za, where you will find our raid expectations as well as looting guidelines and rules.

We look forward to hearing from you! :)

Say what? I'm completely lost. I never said there's no swearing going on. I think you may have misread. In fact, I believe I hinted at the fact that people who do join should be able to tolerate the odd expletive, but ok. Also, I really don't understand what you mean. Maybe I'm the unintelligible one here.

And no, Soulreaver, I actually didn't think that my recruitment message was serious at all. I think it was pretty much what anyone else looks for in guild members. Also, if you look, I mention progressive, yet fun raiding.

Hmmm ... maybe I wasn't very clear.

Learn to English Magna... punctuation is a vital written skill, so use it! You may discover that people may actually understand what you are talking about.

In this regard, if you have nothing useful to contribute, are not looking to join a guild on EU servers and have no desire to experience new content rather go troll another thread.

Back under your bridge you evil troll, you have no power here!

this is basic, not serious,

Btw black and green fire is the hardest in my opinion , people tend to snap the red one fast! teach them from there!

Cool thanks, Morgoth! Will definitely snap on those training wheels and whip 'em in to shape. :)

We're looking for anyone from 65 to 80 (level wise, of course, although we don't discriminate against 'senior' citizens, as long as they can stay up late-ish to raid ;))!

Lvl 80's are welcome. We're busy doing heroics to gear ourselves up.

Hi,

I have been playing Alliance for a while (Have a few high level chars) but have decided I want to move to the dark side.

How long do you think it would take to get a new char up to level 65 with "normal" playing?

I am looking for an SA guild to join to play end game content.

Thanks
B

There is a way to jippo the Recruit-a-Friend system, Bos, and with that, it will take about 2 weeks to lvl to 65. We'd love to have you, though! :)

Well you guys will have to bare with me for 2 - 3 weeks then :)

I will sign onto the realm tonight and start leveling.

Any particular class I should look at and professions.

I have experience in Druid, Priest, Warrior and Rogue. in that order :)

Let me know.

Hmmm ... I'd reckon a druid or dps. We don't have a rogue, yet, so if you like that class, go for it. We basically need any healers and dps at this point, though, but I also want our guildies to play the class and spec they truly enjoy (same thing for professions). Just fill out an app. on our site, please, and I'll pst you tonight, or whenever you're online (there's a spot on the app. for your toon's name, so I'll get back to you via that toon). I really would try the Recruit-a-friend thing, btw. Two of our members levelled insanely with it. I think you just specifiy an elligible country as your address in the account creation screen, but I honestly don't know how to go about it. If you're keen to try this, and not how to do it, I'll find out for you and chat to you when I see you.

Look forward to hearing from you!

I registered on your site. Says my account is blocked or not activated :|

Anyway,

My toon is currently a Level 12 Tauren Druid, not bad after 5 hours of playing :)

Updated News

We're currently starting our 10 man content, and are looking for more HEALERS (aren't we all, huh?), DPS, and a few good TANKS for our 25 man team.

Please apply on our website if you're interested in being part of a guild that's working towards progression raiding (our site is currently under going a revamping, but we'll be back online by Wednesday).

Probably a different guild. Even though we thought the name was cool and unique a quick look at the armory will tell you that there are a ton of them.

Maybe speaks to WoW player's proficiency in classical literature.

Definitely a different guild, Pitbull. While our name is not entirely unique, it was fitting considering that it was established at the beginning of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. So, it was suitable at the time. I don't regret the decision to call it that when there are many other "Ireanians" out there, because we feel it suits us well; circumstances, and attitude. ;)
