Is Mkhize our next baas?

Knowing which article to take seriously from IOL is an art.

The sources accused Ramaphosa of having lost the Mpumalanga recent ANC conference by focusing on alienating Deputy President David “DD” Mabuza instead of building a solid support base behind himself. The strategy, they added, resulted in the election of a provincial leadership, led by new chairperson Mandla Ndlovu, which was more anti-Mabuza than pro-Ramaphosa.

The cANCer is destroying our country.
If we don't do something about it (rid ourselves of the cANCer), it will ultimately kill our country.

The committee are a bunch of clowns. Do they really think the minister would receive money directly off of a dodgy tender? So, all that all the corrupt ministers have to do is receive moneys via far enough removed proxies to avoid needing to account. It's not even as if the minister could legit declare receiving money off a tender his department issued, that'd be admitting criminal liability. Idiots.

Did they give him a phone? Is this about John?
Just making the point that it's not unusual, it's gifts to politicians. It's that time of the year where politicians declare what gifts they have received. Receiving a gift from another country is not in itself unusual, be it a phone from a successful company in that country, or an expensive bottle of whisky, this happens every year.

I ranted along similar lines but then I read the article.

"The committee considered the complaint in two parts: namely; 1. Your son received benefits from Digital Vibes to the alleged amounts of R300 000 and R160 000, and, 2. You received benefits from Digital Vibes totalling the amount of R6 720 for electrical work done by 4Way Maintenance at your Cranbrook property in Bryanston."

That's actually what corrupt politicians are doing, getting their kickbacks via family members and friends, it's actually unfair to call a committee that investigates ethics compliance names simply because they did their job and found nothing, it's not their job to speculate on what could have happened on anything else that doesn't involve ethics.

I think you and a couple other posters are confusing it with a health committee that could be investigating the Digital vibes thing which it's not. The fact that they found he wasn't in breach of his ethics code means nothing in relation to the whole Digital Vibes thing and the corruption involved.

How can Zweli Mkhize be accused of being unethical if the ethics of the ANC is to steal/loot/plunder?

Fair point I suppose in the way the investigation works.
But if you think of how corporate compliance works you'd see the flaws in the way the committee went about or maybe it is the way the ethics laws in government are written. In the private sector, it is considered unethical for you or anyone you may have influence with to receive gifts or other gratuities from entities who do business with your line of influence. It is not that they are disallowed just that you must declare it. So, in corporate, Zweli would have had to declare that his son is in business with Digital Vibes. But the whole thing was set up to siphon money off the department so he wouldn't declare but I guess he knew the loopholes.

Yes, maybe there are flaws in how it works in government, It should certainly be more stringent, especially for people in a position of power and influence.

The Prime Minister declares gifts and services selectively. This cannot be, I know in SOC's you must declare things like i.e. diaries, calendars, clothing received from stakeholders. Failure to do so can result in being disciplined.
