Massmart’s financial results for the year ended 29 December 2019 clearly show why the company wants to close its Dion Wired stores.

Its Massdiscounters division, which is comprised of Game and Dion Wired, reported a 2,169.3% decrease in trading profit compared to the previous year.

Huge costs, no competitive advantage to a Takealot. The only benefit is if you wanted to see the product in the flesh (metal?) before you bought it elsewhere.

like the time i bought an oven there
no one to help me so eventually i find the portable oven i want and throw it into my trolley
next thing the salesmen are every where trying to sign their codes onto the box to earn commision

Actually Game has a clear space in the market as they have some great deals and they will beat any price from a physical retail store,yes their staff are not always jacked up but if you know what you want and want it for the best price Game can fill that need for you.I once received a gift from somebody that was purchased from another store and Game swapped it for me for something I preferred by giving me credit towards it,no other retailer in SA will do that especially not Makro which some here seem to love.They need to leave the groceries out though and concentrate on what they're good at i.e non perishable consumer goods.

Dion Wired on the other hand tried to be premium priced but with the same clueless staff,that formula just doesn't work!
