Have you ever asked yourself why it only becomes a problem in SOEs while it's also applicable to private companies?

Surely they should all be like Eskom if it was that destructive?
A lot of the time it is, people are often moaning about companies performance and such on here.
The difference is private companies will outsource things, they might not hire whites directly but they'll get in other smaller companies to run vital things, or they'll go to India, often you'll know the BEE candidate as they are literally window dressing the real work is done by outsourcing

What it manifests as in the private sector is the lack of economic growth.

Private sector is what employs most people. What happens when you gimp the private sector is that you get mass unemployment.
Actually private sector doesn't employ the most in SA, hence we have the unemployment rate

"It’s the ratio between white and black that counts. So, when no suitable black candidate is found, and a white is appointed, we need several blacks just to maintain the status quo, never mind moving forward"

This bodes so badly for quality, if a black must be appointed even if there is no suitable black candidate. The CEO and the SA guvimint are ukking idiots!
If there is no suitable black candidate, HR lowers the bar, if still none, bar lowered, if still none position remains open. There is hardly ever a white person even looked at HR doesn't send the CVS through

Yeah. Always interesting that some of the biggest advocates of transformation are white people who have generated enormous wealth and thus are basically advocating a cost-free policy from a personal point of view.

What an arse licker.
It's law. And the useless managerial class that run all our institutions know of nothing but compliance. All JSE listed businesses and even many smaller ones all support BEE and transformation.

However I do believe there is a case to boycott companies like this that come out a bit too enthusiastically. I'll avoid discem.

Whoah! You're upset, but that's quite the reach there. Affirmative action has nothing on apartheid but you've managed to make the leap past that to Nazism?
"Affirmative action has nothing on apartheid"?

So limiting a section of the population's ability to actually find employment, because of the color of their skin, seems just fine to you?

I would argue that it is one of the most serious forms of discrimination that there is.

Well, looking at that letter I think they should appoint those blacks anyway, they will grow into their roles, just like the CEO.
Yep. It's what is generally what is referred to as "The Beginning Of The End".

Yeah - the sheer irony.
Apparently, discrimination is not discrimination. ;)

For real?
Nah, looks like a hoax.

Obviously that's fake.

100% fake - someone trying to stir some kak on social media!

Which CEO in their right mind would type : "this is for real" in an official corporate document?

f0k0f kak stirrers
These didn't age well.

He thinks he benefits from the discrimination, so it is not a problem....

He doesn't realise that all these rasist policies will cause our country to fail and hence also bad for him.

Unfortunately not, remember the big Discovery boycott?

Sasol?

I do agree with you. Nothing will happen

There's no EFF types among white people that will go and physically riot.
Most white people are just sheep. Bad sheep actually that cannot even stand together when something is clearly against them.

It's not even a white people only problem if we go back to segregated hiring practices that excludes one group entirely. You would think more people take a principled stand against that.

So: Woolworths, Spur, Dischem added to the list. Who else?
Imagine needing to exclude minority races after 30 years .
Nothing to see here, nothing racist about this, RAINBOW NATION!
Every company. Do you see high IQ people anywhere in private sector? I haven't seen one since 2008

I usually go to Ackermans Pharmacy in Primrose if I'm in the area as I do travel a lot. They are reasonable with their pricing and they sell generic paracetamol headache tablets @ R25 for 100. Been that same price for years now.
so, decision at the braai was to boycott dischem ?
