I am curious how this Solidarity case will go; they have now announced the initiative to serve Dischem on Monday? What they will be served with, well, we will know by Monday. Dischem do have the resources to take this all the way… Solidarity would need to get Dischem employees on their side by petition, so this may get tough on people.

Just odd to see how some people are in the view that Dischem shouldn’t be blamed, but the state. Did they read Dischem’s response in the news? I guess, not. Besides, somewhere a case has to be made. Saying this, many are pro this policy. Anyone read the replies to Helen Zille?

Say this case goes all the way to the Constitution court, whether there will be any court cases, I am in view that Dischem will win. SA has made a huge commitment to institutional change, don’t see how the supreme court will want to change that mission. The policies will only get tougher.

The complication in this case is that it looks like the management are at fault, forcing and bullying HR into appointing whoever they want and going against company policy
The CEO comes down on HR, HR blames the managers, the CEO now has approve every appointment himself
Whoever leaked this is most likely the guilty party

In the new South Africa BEE incentivise white people to get educated because white collar jobs are the only ones open to them. And helps black people get skilless minimum wage jobs. Seems to be more perpetuating the injustices of the past not addressing them.
