Final straw was HR telling me that they couldn’t give me the promotion I was after because I was white. And that I shouldn’t bother applying for any other positions in future because I wouldn’t be considered because of the colour of my skin. I appreciated them at least being honest enough to tell me that outright. I emigrated to the UK 6 months later.

Still makes me laugh when I see people talking about work place discrimination here in the UK. They have literally have no idea what they’re talking about.

Started when the ANC banned corporal punishment.
Why ?
You talk in class, or done some thing by accident you get moered, a raise of hands if you were moered for no reason, several times I could remembered being moered for no other reason other than to show dominance and instill fear. The power went to teachers head, several times short of being child abuse. Several times because your a child you have no voice and just keep your mouth shut and take your punishment. Fk that shyte, it was child abuse plain as simple, that a complete stranger was judge, jury and executioner, whether you were guilty or not.

The physical abuse I needed to endure because a teacher was having a bad day.......yeah no......glad it is gone....

went through corporal punishment at school, it taught me respect for others, teachers didnt "moer" at random, at our school, it was escalated to the HOD or the principal, and it got dealt with at that level, but the lack of it has lead to a societal decay

I have never experienced that in all of my schooling years, from 1983 to 1995. In my experience, you were sent to the HOD, they dished it out.

Not at the school I was at...there was a contest between teachers who could make the best "plank" to moer with. Our math teach had a hobby of making leather, took a PVC pipe and pulled cow leather over it. That thing was a beatch. HOD, god would have been happy to endure that, each teacher equally dished out punishment for the most stupid shyte.

Getting moered teached you respect ? Flawed ideology much. ? You want to tell me you respected someone out of freewill, not because of self preservation and fear, that is a little hard to believe mate. You earned respect by being a decent human being and a good teacher and role model. You can bet your sweet ass, not every school had the same exacting standards when it came to punishment, if you ever been to a landbou, or boarding school, the shyte that happened there is things of nightmares so count your self lucky.

You have a serious illusionary view if you think respect should be given based on discipline/punishment and authority.

Getting moered taught you consequences, it's not really about respect imho. Are you a basket case today because of this "abuse"?

you telling me kids today have respect out of their own free will? have you seen kids at schools now days?

Oh, it didnt "teached" it "taught" ;)

Yes, respect is earned, but there must also be a lesson about consequence , you **** up, you get punished, not get asked nicely to not do it again, that clearly isn't working

It's staring you in the face man. Is the state of our education system not enough proof? What about the 30% pass mark? It's been a downward trend since 1994. Carry on living in your bubble.
I'm not denying that, I even said as much - in fact this conversation about education started with me saying it is the biggest failing of the ANC. So get off your high horse. I'm asking for evidence that AA or BEE specifically is what is responsible for the state of education here. Can you provide such evidence or not?

Where would that evidence come from?

Well then by that logic, most of the MyBB Manne werent moered enough at school, by the way they show very little respect to anyone or anything not in line with the pre-94 status quo

What else could it be?
At least one person here thinks it's the banning of corporal punishment! I personally think it's just greed and corruption and incompetence, which happens irrespective of BEE or AA. BEE can be implemented with hiring properly qualified people, that's not the problem. BEE and cadre deployment or corruption are not the same thing

But sure go hand in hand with everything done, the one enables the other.

Those 2 things go hand in hand. Take artificial social engineering out of the equation, and watch us prosper in a non racial south africa like we were promised.
