guys we have a complex past and everything. Lots of truly bad stuff. But we find ourselves in 2022 and what exactly is happening? Corporates like Dischem (and lets not fool ourselves, many many others) have a simple mission to hit a government-prescribed number in order to avoid penalties. What this is doing is enabling a relatively small priviledged group of the 'majority' to get access to loads of great opportunities, further their careers, receive corporate development and sponsortship etc. At the same time there is a priviledged group from the 'minority' who are reaching a point where they cant get promoted, or even hired (per Dischem), and like I say its not this one company - its a general thing across all big businesses. For those people, and in fact for any skilled person irrespective of color, oversease opportunities start getting explored, applied for, and taken up. Sometimes they dont even require you to leave the country. So brain-drain is ensuing and overall South Africa is not growing as quickly as it should be growing, meaning everyone suffers ultimately, especially the poor, when those tax rands start drying up. I dont know what the answer is but there surely has to be a better way.
