Unless you ever need to do something like get cash at an ATM..

I was at a mall yesterday - ABSA, 6 ATMS, no queue. Nedbank, 4 ATMs no Queue, Standard, 4 ATMs no queue.

Capitec - 1 ATM, i counted 48 people in the queue and it looked longer when i walked back. I'de never touch them.

But you can just draw money anywhere? They don’t have Saswitch fees as I recall.

Which is why they don’t have many ATM’s in the first place. By design.

Besides cash from an ATM being a relic of of ancient times.

I’m not the biggest Capitec fan, but this really isn’t an issue.

What would you say about TymeBank that has no ATMs at all? Or Discovery Banking?

So if they were carrying the money in cash in their wallet what then?

Then it would be gone, permanently, with no recourse.

This literally is a non-issue. You can block the card within seconds from the app, don’t need to wait on the phone or in a queue or anything.

But if you look after it in the first place none of this is a problem.

You can’t plan your life according to the 0.1% anomaly and inconvenience the other 99.9% with bullshit logic like this.

It’s conspiracy theorist kak right behind anti-vaxing.
You're missing the point...and I'm tired of going in circles. Pseudo-intellectuals nowadays.

You are the pseudo-intellectual chasing self imposed anxieties here mate.

The point is, none of this is even worthy of a conversation.

The people wanting to turn this off are the very same people who will believe 5G gives them Covid and every other WhatsApp forwarded 50 times.

If thats the case why is there such a large queue to get to a capitec bank when they could have all gone to FNB, STD, ABSA etc?

Our domestic was once lured to Capitec from FNB. She paid so much in hidden service fees she changed back after 2 months. She said cash withdraws were insane.

As evidenced by this thread people aren’t very bright.

I mean I may even be wrong, it could have changed over time.

What do you say @backstreetboy? Does Capitec have Saswitch fees now?

I've seen month end queues at FNB ATM's as well so it's not something that's unique to Capitec...

Yes it's around R2 more per R1k IIRC. Well worth paying it to avoid queues.

Gave an example "mate"...move on now. I guess I could have used a few more, but chose this one.

Move on "mate", the ship has sailed.

You victim blaming and ignorant to the levels of crime syndicates operating in SA.
Just leave it at ignorant. The guy seemingly wants 55 similar examples, and not just 1. Then has a major brain wheel spin trying to comprehend the single example.
Can't fix that.

Are you poor to pay the R10 (total) Capitec withdrawal fee at the other banks ATM where there are no queues? (which is often lower than that banks own fee)

The NFC counterpart of an EMV card is simply that the communications with the chip moves from contact to contactless. In other words, all the usual communications with the chip, goes via the RF interface in a contactless transaction. Contactless is also highly optimized to reduce transaction time (eg the application selection is simplified), so for small amounts the PIN will be bypassed according to EMV specifications.

I don't think there's any additional risk by going contactless. The card will usually be programmed appropriately and will trigger a Cardholder Verification method in any case, depending on factors such as transaction amount

Not me, i bank with Std so there's always lots of ATM's around. I was talking about the people banking with Capitec and judging by the queues, they're too poor to pay the fee, which is not helped when there's an ATM ratio of 1:5 compared to other banks.

I didn't even know there was a risk to tap to pay, if there is even a real risk. I haven't used my bank card in a few weeks, loaded the card onto my watch and now it stays in the car, I don't even carry my wallet anymore.

Well they have almost double the users of the nearest competitor Substandard bank so not surprising. They also have the most digital users so I think things will change.
