Disappearing messages coming to WhatsApp

New information regarding WhatsApp's upcoming "Delete Messages" feature has been revealed in a beta update for the Android version of the messaging app.

WABetaInfo reported that the latest version of the WhatsApp beta app includes code which shows that the ability to delete messages after a pre-determined period will be available for individual chats as well as group chats.

Drunk text, incorrect person text, turrets, etc etc etc

So you will have set the message to expire in an hour only when sending to the incorrect person or when drunk or will you make all messages you send out be like that? Why not just delete it for all if making an oops?

I would make sure to screenshot all messages with the timer showing.

So you're supposed to have enough foresight to set a expiration date/time on a drunk text, but not enough to not send it in the first place?

Was waiting for a stupid and unwarranted Telegram comparison.

On a technical level, Telegram is better than WhatsApp in every way. You don't have to pop a blood vessel when users point that out.

And yes, auto-destruct messages have been in Telegram for a very long time. Don't think anyone really uses them. It's not nice when messages disappear after a while.

This article is about WhatsApp, not Telegram. Go and gloat in your own private thread.
