So if you are male and have a disability, no?
I thought all females have disabilities - they weren't born male.*

*feathers will be ruffled
If you male I don't think so. Someone posted the score chart somewhere. But think it is a 0 or 1 for a male and an 8 or 9 for a female.

Yeah my wife got very very sick while working for the company she is at now. They have been extraordinary supportive including reducing her workload and hours and going out of their way to accommodate her with her sickness. They even sent out an email to all the stuff that she is not well and they will accommodate her.

Actually, now that I think about it. Maybe that is why they so nice to my lovely wife.

/jokes, she is one of the best architects in the world.

In the past I disclosed to an employer who I really trusted that I had been diagnosed with a mental health condition.
About two months later I was retrenched "for a different reason". I don't think this was coincidence but I could never prove it.

For the rest of career I refused to disclose anything but at the same time I was never asked so it all worked out.

This morning I received a notification that the company group life cover scheme requires me to complete a new underwriting consent form, medical report, etc. Part of this covers diagnosis for mental health.

I'm worried that in disclosing this to the group scheme will result in my employer finding out and then the stigma rears its ugly head again. The provider of the scheme already has my condition listed on PMB and chronic medication through their medical aid offering so not disclosing it on the forms is not an option. It will come back and bite me in the ass.

How do I even begin to approach this? I really don't want my employer to find out.

Are you sure it's a mental health condition?

Lots of us are on anti-depressants and that's not classified as a mental health problem is it? Is just life's ups and downs.

Well, you did anyway. You come across as an absolute pleasure - now who would want to fire you?

I've had my fair share of dealings with tera on this forum, and even a run in or two over time...

He has issues, that he is man enough to step up to and admit which takes a stupid amount of courage... but judging someone by the way they respond to things on a forum would be a mistake really. I would be pretty damned sure that in person he would not respond in such a fashion. Its a hell of a lot easier to tell someone to get bent in a forum setting than it is in person and obviously the consequences are totally different.

Sounds more serious than that as OP has been DIAGNOSED. Although many pop the pills, not everyone has been diagnosed with a chronic condition. Maybe that is where the difference comes in.

Is it illegal to fire someone for this?
If not I would probably fire you to for the sake of the other employees. Someone that tried to kill themselves is capable of literally anything. Who knows what happens if another employee rubs that person the wrong way what might go down.
You know, you say some dumb sh!_t on these forums, but this must be in the top 5

If someone called me a dog in real life I would tell them to get bent though.
In a rehab I was at in 2017 a Pastor in a church told me that I'm a 'hond'. Because I refused to clean other people's sht in a toilet. I wanted to plow him down, but left the room. So yes. I do understand and know when to step back. If I had to do it over again I would do the same. Because if I hit the bastard I would either be jailed or kept there indefinitely.

You lack empathy and basic humanity. Yet you want to lecture me?
You are a psychopath, even if you don't acknowledge it.
I am? A suicidal clairvoyant we got over 'ere.
I only judged you on your actions which you self confessed to. To attempt suicide and then expect everyone to act cool about it is nothing short of ludicrous. Actions have consequences.

So let me ask, since unlike you I'm not clairvoyant: Do you believe you are a minority experiencing a life of suffering? You think the rest of us are having a regular 'ol jol out here?

Here's something to consider, if you are capable. The reason why I'd never commit suicide is that I know it will pass my suffering onto those closest to me. In the wise words of Viktor Frankl, endure your suffering with dignity.

Half of us are Nut cases, The other half are either Crazy or complete nutcases. Have you been Certified to have chronic mental problems? If not....

You cannot complete any form and aknowledge without profesional accreditation that you do in fact suffer from any ailments. It could very well have been a misunderstanding or could not have happened at all.

Definitely is. Family history of depression as well.
Was accurately diagnosed and is monitored by my psych.

There are times to respond and times not to of course, and I would assume that more often than not in a personal face to face setting you err on the side of caution.

But in general, at least on this forum (and this is constructive criticism only) you do sometimes get triggered very quickly and it plays into other peoples hands in a debate/discussion. So it would be something I would honestly suggest you work on within yourself purely for your own benefit really.
