Disconnects for past 3 months!!

I have had 3G HSDPA for about 3 months now and ever since I got it find it disconnects ALL the time (the variable and slow speed I can sort of live with if I have to). Called helpdesk a few times, they told me to stop using the Connect dash software supplied, and just go through the Start menu - > connect to. That didnt help. Eventually gave up calling them and visiting my local Vodafone shop (who were also useless). I just decided it was a really bad service till I found this forum and seems others have good service some of the time, if not always.

Anyone have any suggestions? Shall I upgrade my software? I am using v 7.00.0015? Can I download this? Have a Merlin U card. Am based in Sea Point, Cape Town. Thanks...
