According to the following e-mail it seems as if Telkom will be discontinuing the 8 ta 5 Promo Plan which gave us 10 GB on a month to month basis. They try to force the people to get new contracts, which to my opinion is useless as they give night data, which many will not use as they will be asleep at those hours.

Upgrade your connection and get more value!
Tomorrow Starts Today

Dear XXXXXX XXXXXXX

Thank you for your loyalty to Telkom over the years. You are due for an upgrade on 081XXXXXXX.

Yeah, my old man's ended a couple of months ago, and they told him he couldn't continue with it, so he went with that uncapped LTE that you all hate so much.

We hate the uncapped LTE because they drag even the capped LTE down in speed due to tower congestion from around 7pm to 10pm...

Yeah, yeah, I've been duly chastised on that other thread.

I still love my uncapped LTE, never have these issues. In fact my dad's one also is as good as the day it was installed.

You can get it as a month to month with sim only, but what does night data help me. With other words I would pay R100 more for the same 10GB.

True, but the difference is it's LTE, and you get the router as well.

The month to month can be cancelled at any time by Telkom Mobile though.

I have the 10+10 for R299 on month to month. The 10GB night data isn't even used. I'd prefer just 10GB day data for R199 or something.

All the SIMS I have seen work on LTE, it just depends on your device...

This is not what they told me before I upgraded. They had to make some change on my account on their side. Either way, 10+10 for R299 including router is not bad.

I have got a LTE router from the August 5 GB special for R99 and don't need another one. My cellphones are also LTE capable, so it would be a waste of money and a contract above it all.
The 5 Promo was running for a few years on a month to month before the will discontinue it.

Have they said when they end the deal? I'll get my parents to switch to the 5+5gb deal, they don't use anywhere near 10gb on their 10+10gb deal. It does suck that TM are doing this though.

Is the router that they give "mobile"? Meaning can I move around with it or is it fixed to a location?

I got the HUAWEI E5577s-932 modem/router with 5GB/mnth with one month carry-over for R99 over 24mnths - it's a portable battery powered LTE modem
