Hello All,

We are currently on the Classic Core (basically a hospital plan) benefit, but we plan on having a baby this year. So I'd like to hear from you all whether it would be better to switch to a comprehensive plan or not from a cost perspective related to pregnancy? I've always been on classic core because i dont see the benefit of the MSA if i know how to manage my own money and the benefits of comprehensive seemed to have become less and less over time.

For 2021 Discovery will be allowing upgrade effective 01/07/2021 - due to the delay in implimenting increase for COVID relief.

Classic Comp from Classic Core is a big jump, maybe look at the Classic Saver

We are on Classic Priority (standard option via my employer), maternity benefits in 2018 were great. It seems to be one notch up from "Saver" on the "Classic" range. In general, I find it to be pretty decent - hope it helps.

No need to change plans just remember to call Discovery and activate the maternity benefit otherwise you could lose out on certain benefits like 8 free gynae consults.
