Discovery vitality and gym membership, joining now.

What is the monthly gym fee (looking at active virgins)?

I see that you pay R1030 to join and then R120 something for the card, but then it states you save up to 80% on membership. Is this 80% on the R495 p/m?

Vitality for primary + 1 is already R200 p/m...

I'm looking at doing the same soon.

As far as I understand you save on the gym membership fees...

And it would by 67% off if you signed up after 1 January 2010.

You get more back if you pay using your Discovery Credit Card.

I pay R180 a month (more or less) for gym membership and then get some money back (I think about R50) at the end of the month for using my Discover Card.

That's where the "80%" comes from.

Should the R200 for vitality (prim + 1) not already be given back by just using healthy foods at WW / PNP ?

I think he means he gets money back specifically for paying the gym with his Discovery Credit card. I only get about R150 back for my healthy food, but I could probably get more if I tried harder.

I'm just wondering if I could benefit enough from:

1. Healthy food
2. Cinema ( once a month )

I don't want this to become an expensive of ±R350 p/m.

With healthy food you'll get quite a lot back and you can add Clicks as well. Sadly you have to chose between PnP or Woolworths, so I've got mine on PnP as I go there most of the time.

What's the cinema benefit? I know you get discount on your ticket. Is that it still?

Sure,

Remember you are only paying say R200 for gym, Plus R180 for the vitality membership itself.

The gym cost alone would cost you around R900 for two people, which you get for say R380 minus the R150 you are going to get back from PnP and WW, minus R50 for paying with your Discovery Credit Card. So you are sitting on paying R180 for all these benefits. Remember the 35% off on Kulula -> this is where I get my big savings from. 10-20% off at various shops, I am sure you can get you will make up all the vitality cost by just maintaining your normal lifestyle. If you alter it a bit you can even score more.

WW is where I shop if I don't get my things of a "farmers market".

Yeah the movie thing is still on going, I'm currently using the Edgars one. I'd probably can it since its an extra R55-something p/m...

He doesn't have to if he has a Discovery CC

I really don't need another CC :D

Oh I didn't know that. lol.

Oh? But 14 times a month is quite hectic :p I won't be able to commit to that as I sometimes go running or cycling instead of going to the gym.

That's every second day and you get virgin active national membership, find a gym buddy

Just a question I just had a look at my Discovery profile and my wife pays for our groceries at PnP with my Discovery Card but I have not received any cash back in the last 12 months, do you only get cash back for Heathyfood items or do you get cash back on the total purchase price of your goods ?
